from The Homeschool Leadercast · host The Homeschool Leadercast

Classical Conversations andTeaching the Classical Model of EducationMany parents homeschool their children today because they are called by God to do so. It is often a matter of character building and discipling. But oftentimes, its because they want their children to actually learn well.  That is, to be well educated, to be smart. Many times in traditional schools and even homeschooling, we lack accountability, quality educational materials, consistency, real challenges for the students and an overall exceptional education. Today we will be talking with Denise McLain of Classical Conversations and she will be talking about teaching the classical model of education. There are many obstacles parents are confronted with when choosing to homeschooling. Often times parents are told they are not qualified or educated enough to be successful at this task. Denise's passion for Classical Conversations is to empower parents to be the primary educators of their children in academics and in the knowledge of God. As she engages parents in this responsibility, she is excited to see how God will turn these children's hearts toward home, building love and respect for their parents as a result. Seventeen years married to Brian & mother to 5 joyful girls, Denise is looking to show the love of Christ to all who come across her path. Denise has been homeschooling for 10 years, the last three with Classical Conversations.Connect with...Website: Classical ConversationsContact/email: Denise McLainFacebook: Denise McLainTwitter: mollysmommy97Google+: Denise McLainLinkedIn: Denise McLainInstagram: Denise McLainBooks Denise talked aboutDorothy Sayers essay "Lost Tools of Learning" (Free)       Listen toDenise as she talks about:What Classical Conversations is.The challenging part of Classical ConversationsWhy a parent should consider a classical model for education. How it's possible for every child to benefit from the classical model. How parents can be equipped to teach the classical model. What drew Denise to the classical model. The cost of Classical Conversations This page may contain affiliate links.
