He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) Honours from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Having grown up as a competitive cross-country skier and basketball player, Andrew developed a love for sports and fitness from an early age and later became a die-hard fitness enthusiast. In 2010, he started his career as a certified personal trainer in Edmonton, Alberta, and has since accumulated an impressive 19000+ client coaching hours. His dedication to continuous learning is evident through his devotion to studying various aspects of fitness, nutrition, and behavior change, all related to the fitness industry. In January 2017, Andrew founded his fitness business, Andrew Coates Fitness, and currently operates out of Evolve Strength South and his own home studio in south Edmonton. He is also known as the co-host of The Lift Free and Diet Hard Podcast, where he engages in discussions with leaders in the fitness industry. As a fitness writer, Andrew contributes to major fitness publications like T-Nation, The PTDC, Generation Iron, and TrueCoach. Additionally, he co-founded The Evolve Canadian Strength Symposium, an Edmonton Fitness Conference featuring prominent industry speakers. Andrew is not only a mentor to fitness professionals worldwide but also actively shares his ideas and fitness industry philosophy on his rapidly growing Instagram account, @andrewcoatesfitness.
