Episode 50 Follow Your Curiosity

from Boldly Becoming You Podcast

Jowarnise is a visual artist and designer who explores the human condition with themes involving race, social class, and culture through her naturalistic portraits of women in eloquent poses. She often focuses on the female African American experience. Her work has been exhibited at the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia, the Meredith Gallery at Virginia State University, the medical campus of Virginia Commonwealth University, and the Virginia Museum of History and Culture. She was awarded in 2012 by the National Arts Program and in 2019 by the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. She is based in Richmond, VA.   In this episode Jowarnise and I sit down and talk about her journey from following the path that she was "supposed" to take to following the path that she was truly meant to be on - living her passion and following her curiosity. She's charming, inspiring, and wonderfully honest and I know you will thoroughly enjoy listening to her talk about how she gave herself permission to boldly become the person she is meant to be.
