Episode 50 ~ Lipoedema Warrior Cathrine McInerney

Cathrine was diagnosed with Lipoedema in November 2023 and manages her Lipoedema by Conservative Management. In this episode we discuss the types of conservative management Cathrine has tried, what works for her and what she has been able to do consistently.  We chatted about when she first noticed the change, her history of being a former PT (6 years) and reflecting on past clients she now would know had Lipoedema. Still, back then she had never heard of it before and could not help them achieve their weight loss goals as neither myself nor my clients were aware of Lipoedema. She speaks about her struggles navigating Menopause and Lipoedema and what that looks like for her. Having her GP fob off Lipoedema as a fad that specialists wanted to make money from and how she had to seek a diagnosis from Dr Lekich (online) and Dr Teo (In-person) and the relief of knowing it wasn't her fault. The changes happening to her were out of her control, which in past years wasn't the case as she could maintain/lose weight quite easily, all she had to do was focus on her goals and she could achieve them.
