Episode 53: Episode 51 - The 10th Planet: DUNE

Welcome to episode 51!!! On this episode your hosts and stoner buddies Magick Sam and Zekiel Parchment keep their social distance, use hand sanitizer, and separate pieces to partake as they have a virtual smoke sesh with you.The lads kick off the episode acknowledging the daylight savings “fall back” and the difference just an hour can make in a given day when it comes to sunlight. They then get into the strain of the day, a special locally grown high content THC hybrid called 10th Planet. The sesh turns to the New Orleans and Louisiana elections briefly before the kick-off smoke that brings them back to the flavors from the strain of the day and a ponder on calling weed “loud”. Suddenly someone knocks on the door of the lair and Zekiel does the mutual aid  thing and Magick Sam has a little quiet moment with you, the listeners. There’s a sidetrack into talking about pizza - preferences/options/etc. then things roll into the lads’ recap of their respective Halloween experiences this year. It’s a study in contrast as Magick Sam did the parental supervisor version, and Zekiel hit up a grown-ups only set of parties over the Halloween weekend.  The episode then shifts gears to a recap and review of the newest release of DUNE, directed by Denis Villenueve. They begin by noting the previous filmed versions of DUNE, the Lynch 80’s film, and the SciFi 90’s miniseries. Zekiel gives a glowing review of the new film, and now wants to get into the books. Magick Sam also feels the new film is a winner, and notes some of the details in the book left out of the film. The lads get into the world building and universe the DUNE series takes place in, getting into the Butlerian Jihad, the home planets, the tech, the spice, and many of the little and not so little things in the books.
