Magick Sam tells of his summer of doing movie riffing live for films like The Lair of the White Worm and Roger Corman’s unreleased Fantastic.  The discussion also dips into pre-internet days of yore, and a breakdown of writing riffs. After a moment of zen with Zekiel lighting the roach, the sessions turns to the movies and TV of Summer and the lads give their thoughts on The Boys, Tulsa King, Stallone films, Sinners, the latest Superman, movies, super heroes, nostalgia, a real pop culture ride, The Last of Us, Andor, much much more! YET AGAIN!!!  Welcome to a new episode of 504 Twenty!!!  Join your hosts and #stoner buddies Magick Sam and Zekiel Parchment as they have a virtual smoke sesh with you!!! In this episode your hosts begin things by talking over how hard it is to talk about everything that’s been going on. And make a little mention of the handy “doob tube” and its uses. They then mention the strains of the day they will be enjoying this session and the similarities between the varieties of micro-brewed and craft beers and the variety of growers and strains out now.  They then reflect on aging, and looking at the bright side of surviving and getting older. And remembering life is weird, you can wear a lot of different outfits and ambitions and labels as you go, and you can and must always keep going. The sesh then turns to what the lads have been checking out in the pop culture sphere. Zekiel gives a big recommendation to the horror series From. Magick Sam has been digging on The Penguin. He also started checking out DUNE: Prophecy.  This leads to a momentary pondering of elements of white saviorism in some stories. Then a ramble begins getting into Karate Kid  and a discussion of the underrated action gem The Hunted. Then they get to a little Halloween talking, and Zekiel gets into his inspiration for his costume from the film Heat, which was highly detailed and one of those costumes that when someone got it, they GOT it, and the satisfaction that vibe can bring. They then talk about Deadpool and Wolverine and the new age of R rated Disney superhero flicks, and how Blade taught Zekiel that Kris Kristofferson did more than the Blade movies. The sesh rambles all around before they come to music Magick Sam has been into like DJ Frane, Castle Rat and the band Ghost, goth Bon Jovi. Zekiel gives a recommendation of The Beastie Boys concert film Awesome; I Fuckin Shot That. WE’RE BACK!!!  Welcome to a new episode of 504 Twenty!!!  Join your hosts and #stoner buddies Magick Sam and Zekiel Parchment as they have a virtual smoke sesh with you!!! In this episode your hosts begin things by talking over summertimes past and present complete with banned Entertech electric water guns and the ancient days pre-internet playing outside. Then they discuss the strain of the day, Oreos, enjoyed via an old fashioned joint. That was machine rolled. By a stoner who hasn’t learned to hand roll yet 20 plus years and counting. The session then passes the torch (joint) over to The #Olympics!  With the summer games having taken place, the lads have been catching some of the action on the tube. They get into things like using it for background noise at times, the particular events they’ve been digging, rugby, women’s beach volleyball, the joyful and totally not corrupt people in charge of the Olympics, maybe trying to hit the games coming to Los Angeles, and the dynamics of different ticket prices for different events, and how cool it would be to see everyone try some of these out to see the human pace car for the events. This leads to a discussion of appreciating the work and talent of the olympians, and a moment to look into our perception of talent within ourselves, and some things that can be talents that we don’t even realize. Of course they talk about the new living memes and memorable moments that these games brought, the shooter, the pole vaulter (literally), and more. They quickly shift gears in the sesh to a Dabwood vape cart made from the strain White Widow, and the longevity of the pens.  We also learn some fascinating travel tips. The conversation turns to what they’ve been watching, and how they’ve been watching the old ‘Lympics. They come back round to things like judo, fencing, and all the arguing in the fencing, women’s soccer, swimming and gymnastics. No equestrian stuff though. The lads then take a moment to ruminate on how it’s 4 years out from the #covid lockdown, appreciate the scent of fresh flower, the strain of the day White Truffle, and the bong they as of yet hadn’t used together. Magick Sam also gives some of his special cookies to Zekiel to try out.  Zekiel accidentally drinks some of the bong water, but the crisis is averted by smoking more. After a discussion of some tv and movies, both agree to the comfort and rewatchability of #thehuntforredoctober.  They shift gears and talk #metal music for a minute with shout outs to Yosemite In Black and Unleash The Archers. The session then turns to what the lads did for #Jazzfest, which was nothing. They didn’t go. But they do say why. And what would bring them back, and even what’s good about the fest.  The sesh then talks about food and how there’s a blossoming of food not just in the city but the surrounding areas and a proper stoner discussion of #pizza which leads into the infinite #sandwich questions of the universe, #hotdogs, and #dimsum.  They come back around to discuss the recently watched DUNE Part Deux and the #dune universe. They then take a moment to wish each other happy belated 420s, May the 4ths, and 504 days. They then discuss the now endangered cannabis/hemp based drinks and forget the name of the Southport Hall venue, and ponder Wayne and Garth being stoners. There’s been a LOT that’s happened since we last had a sesh. The lads expound quickly on traveling and the good things about carts and edibles for that; wonder mutt got injured (she’s doing better!); and how much they talk about dog shit in their adult lives. Then they check out a new toy by Grav Labs: glass joints with accessories!  And they get into the recent growth of cannabis accessories and Zekiel’s crafting of homemade bongs.  They roll on to Magick Sam’s anxiety and getting through life’s curveballs like heartworms and unexpected relocations thanks to house fires on Christmas (reminder folks, get insurance!), and that he needed to lay off a bit after consuming a bit too much over the course of the past months.  Zekiel highlights the positive takeaways and comments on self awareness and survival and getting through adversity.  Zekiel then recommends canned pumpkin for when your pup might have stomach problems. The sesh turns what the lads have been enjoying, like the new season of The Mandalorian, Andor, His Dark Materials, and the strain of the day! They then turn to the finer points of enjoying hash, and note how it’s a bit of a different smoke than flower. and offer they’re methods for partaking both together. The session turns to what’s been the stoner entertainment lately, with discussions on Star Wars - Andor and the recent ups and downs of that universe since Disney took over, rewatchability of shows, Zekiel speaks his truth and notes he’s a bigger Star Trek guy than Star Wars, the origins of the Force, the mechanics of lightsabers, back into how they got into Star Trek.  The session jumps over to Marvel, and they get into the series Moonknight, and THOR Love and Thunder. There’s a quick sidetrack shoutout to Sasha Baron Cohen for his commitment to his characters like Borat. Upon more hits they get back to Marvel, and talk about She-Hulk - Attorney At Law.  Zekiel then makes the case for checking out Game of Thrones - House of the Dragon.  They then ponder things like executive dysfunction and procrastination. Things turn to Halloween coming up! Zekiel and Magick Sam are hitting up the MOM’s Halloween Party, and are looking forward to checking out Boyfriend with The Revivalists, and checking out the dungeon performers and scenes to be seen. Zekiel then discusses his costume for the event - Candy Corn! And he gets into the previous costume that was the basis for the current one. Zekiel is also hitting The Morning 40 Federation show, and Magick Sam interludes on parenting. Welcome to a new episode of 504 Twenty!!!  Join your hosts and stoner buddies Magick Sam and Zekiel Parchment as they have a virtual smoke sesh with you!!! This week the lads are coming to you from the Westbank Lair, and Zekiel is fresh off a vacation in Florida! They take a moment to acknowledge the strain of the day, an old fave Girl Scout Cookies! Zekiel then reviews his use and travels with vape carts once again on his trip, and the lads mention the ups and downs from their recent histories using them. The lads then check out a machine gun style weed smoking machine thing, note how much more enjoyable game shows are when stoned, how TV watching has changed for them , watching TV as opposed to listening to music for chilling and vibing, which brings them to noting how some music can become new again from being in shows and games. Then it’s a little nostalgia trip to the high school days and dress codes.The episode shifts to review time, as Zekiel has gotten around to checking out The Mandalorian! The lads give their thoughts on the series and the Star Wars universe TV shows expanding the canon. They also discuss The Book of Boba Fett along the same lines and roll into Obi Wan Kenobi. Oh for real, spoiler alert for all of them.  The ramble turns to other TV, the Muppets, shows to revisit and to try out, and the future of Star Wars stuff to consume.  Then a ramble begins talking Reddit, AI art, and the ever traveling Mayor Cantrell.  They wrap things up by talking (again, spoiler alerts) about Ford vs. Ferrari,  the free Friday at Tipitina’s show Zekiel took in with a quick side track about Highlander, and they come back around to Star Wars, and their likely self harm if they had real lightsabers. HELLO EVERYONE!!! Welcome to a new episode of 504 Twenty!!!  Join your hosts and stoner buddies Magick Sam and Zekiel Parchment as they have a virtual smoke sesh with you!!! On this week’s extra large episode the lads welcome you all to Pride Month! Replete with hoochie daddy shorts! The lads ponder where that term came from, and make sure to distinguish them from Daisy Dukes. They also mention the big Naked Bike Ride and both lament the heat of summer coming on a little too strong. They remind us all there’s a lot of ways to be an ally even if it’s too hot out to go to a parade, and note that actions speak louder than logos. After a political ramble the lads take a moment to appreciate friendship, the great things they have, and the $25,000 Pyramid. Sorta. Magick Sam pops out to ask his lady a question, Zekiel shares an intimate moment with you, and they take a moment to mention the strain of the day, a repeat of last episode, some great White Tahoe Cookies. There’s a momentary mention of methods of cleaning out herb grinders to maximize catching that kief. HELLO EVERYONE!!! Welcome to a new episode of 504 Twenty!!!  Join your hosts and stoner buddies Magick Sam and Zekiel Parchment as they have a virtual smoke sesh with you!!! On this week’s episode the lads find themselves smack in the middle of JazzFest and Bayou Boogaloo. They don’t however find themselves going to Jazzfest this time around, and they get into why. But first they feature the strain of the day: White Tahoe Cookies also featuring the word “begat”!  They get into a quick chat on gear such as new one hitters, vape bubblers, and weed tourism. The session turns to current New Orleans events, Jazzfest, and the lack of wanting to go on the parts of your stoner buddy hosts. Zekiel even saved enough to get an IWatch instead! The discussion gets into the myriad reasons they don’t care to go, but also includes tales of Jazzfest experiences of the past. The chat shifts over to the cool nighttime shows around town during Jazzfest, and Zekiel heads to a Debauche show for the occasion, and Magick Sam recalls some Jazzfest firsts for him, like his first time on mushrooms, then Zekiel recalls his first time trying GOOD weed. The session turns its red eyes to the Bayou Boogaloo. Zekiel gets into his plans for the occasion. The chat rolls into a very New Orleans style conversation of listing out all the local fests that have been growing, and getting less and less fun to go to.  This leads to the question “Are we just becoming grumbly old men?” The ramble begins to turn to a pondering of where we are in the Covid pandemic, and continuing to be cautious and making it this far without catching it. In a little Van Gogh tinted segue, Zekiel brings a couple of gifts for Magick Sam, a custom made THC tincture breath spray, and THC infused lip balm! A fascinating new way to partake is discovered! Magick Sam then gets back round to remarking on his recent visit to the Van Gogh experience thingy in New Orleans.  Your stoner buddies wrap things up with their spoiler filled review of The Batman (2022). Zekiel gives high marks for the cinematography, design, sound and soundtrack, the overall look and stylishness of it, and the action sequences, but rather unimpressed by the story and acting. Magick Sam enjoyed it as an update to the Batman world. Both agree on looking forward to seeing how this Bat-verse keeps going. AND WE’RE BACK!!! Welcome to a new year, a new mic, and a NEW episode 52!!!  Join your hosts and stoner buddies Magick Sam and Zekiel Parchment as they have a virtual smoke sesh with you! After a much longer than they thought holiday hiatus, the lads are happy to be back and get things rolling with a new microphone! Before they get into it, they introduce the strains of the day, direct from Humboldt County, Vanilla Frosting, and Banana Kush from Colorado. They talk about the new setup, and roll into the state of the streets of New Orleans, get back to Vanilla Frosting’s details, then roll to commemorate the fact that it is the first time in over 2 years that your hosts have properly shared a bowl.    The lads then take us on a journey to the Mardi Gras season that 2022 offered for each. Zekiel takes us on a shroom tinged trip through Krewe du Vieux in which he wasn’t quite aware of who he was parading with; the scene of MOM’s Ball, and the sea of pink it created and the good vibes, which leads to a pondering on vague open ended themes for balls and parties, and what can come of the creative looks of the season; the tale turns to Zekiel’s taking in of the Krewe of Muses Parade, the Mardi Gras chill house party scene. Magick Sam then recounts his by far much less busy Mardi Gras, in which he treks through the Bywater with the costumery and community flowing through the streets. After a long night on Lundi Gras. Zekiel then takes us along with his own Mardi Gras day stroll with a stop at a stripper pole. Suddenly a spider appears on the ceiling, just to make a little guest appearance. But it leads to pondering just how much devices like our phones might be listening to us, or enabling others to. They decide to test a little theory to see if their smartphones are in fact feeding things like social media algorithms. The super special secret word/topic they choose: “MERINGUE”. Which leads to a little aside and complaints about the fluffy confection. A ramble begins that leads into a glimpse of the middle aged person’s mind, and some gaming nostalgia. We get a quick review of the new Matrix:Resurrections by Zekiel. Capsule review: it’s better than Mortal Kombat (2021), and ok to check out if it's already on some platform you have access to.   They wrap up with some words of wisdom, such as what is the key to a great costume? Pockets. Welcome to episode 51!!! On this episode your hosts and stoner buddies Magick Sam and Zekiel Parchment keep their social distance, use hand sanitizer, and separate pieces to partake as they have a virtual smoke sesh with you.The lads kick off the episode acknowledging the daylight savings “fall back” and the difference just an hour can make in a given day when it comes to sunlight. They then get into the strain of the day, a special locally grown high content THC hybrid called 10th Planet. The sesh turns to the New Orleans and Louisiana elections briefly before the kick-off smoke that brings them back to the flavors from the strain of the day and a ponder on calling weed “loud”. Suddenly someone knocks on the door of the lair and Zekiel does the mutual aid  thing and Magick Sam has a little quiet moment with you, the listeners. There’s a sidetrack into talking about pizza - preferences/options/etc. then things roll into the lads’ recap of their respective Halloween experiences this year. It’s a study in contrast as Magick Sam did the parental supervisor version, and Zekiel hit up a grown-ups only set of parties over the Halloween weekend.  The episode then shifts gears to a recap and review of the newest release of DUNE, directed by Denis Villenueve. They begin by noting the previous filmed versions of DUNE, the Lynch 80’s film, and the SciFi 90’s miniseries. Zekiel gives a glowing review of the new film, and now wants to get into the books. Magick Sam also feels the new film is a winner, and notes some of the details in the book left out of the film. The lads get into the world building and universe the DUNE series takes place in, getting into the Butlerian Jihad, the home planets, the tech, the spice, and many of the little and not so little things in the books. Welcome to episode 50!!! On this episode your hosts and stoner buddies Magick Sam and Zekiel Parchment keep their social distance, use hand sanitizer, and separate pieces to partake as they have a virtual smoke sesh with you.The lads return from a bit of a ride due to Hurricane Ida with a very special strain of White Widow, and a little experiment with using background music live-ish when recording.  After admiring the beauty of the flower they have for the sesh, they get into the experience of Ida. Zekiel opted to stay and stick it out and he tells the tale of the mindest and process of hunkering down for a storm, and what it was like to feel the storm hit. The story moves to the post Ida endurance challenge dealing with the lack of A/C and power, clean up, mutual aid, and the mounting pile of garbage. Zekiel draws from past experiences to tolerate the heat, and realizes 10 days without power is the longest he’s ever “camped” before. Ezekiel also learned to appreciate his CD collection, and the need for a Discman for future storms, and he recants the saga of taking Wondermutt out in a storm. Then it’s back to the ongoing battles with the heat & humidity, smells, garbage, and mosquitos. The sesh turns to Magick Sam’s tale of evacuating to the wilds of rural Mississippi, in which a young Jedi experienced his first evacuation and the weight it brings. He then goes into the fun and frolic of evacuation traffic. He also gets into the decision making of what to take, and what to leave when evacuating, knowing when you leave you might not be coming back home. This leads to the lads mentioning a mutual appreciation for the works of Henry Rollins which rolls to a recounting of travels to South Korea and both touch on some of the more interesting foods they’ve tried on their travels.  With segways via theme parks the lads discuss some ups and downs of shroom experiences, and go further into the world of theme parks whilst under the influence and not. The theme of theme parks continues as your smoke buddies give their take on the HBO series Westworld’s third season and the series as a whole (so far). This leads to the lads pondering the nature of human nature if they were presented with a chance to go to a park like Westworld. From there Zekiel brings up the nature of how AI (Artificial Intelligence) is portrayed in the pop culture zeitgeist. Zekiel then gives us his spoiler-ey review of the new Suicide Squad flick. All said it ends up being a worthy stoned watch for some sometimes really weird comic book movie fun. Magick Sam then gives a review of the Fear Street miniseries on Netflix. Also a fun, but far more gory than expected, horror ride for stoned watching. Welcome to episode 48!!! On this episode your hosts and stoner buddies Magick Sam and Zekiel Parchment keep their social distance, use hand sanitizer, and separate pieces to partake as they have a virtual smoke sesh with you. The lads are back after taking a bit of a summer break! Things start with Magick Sam complaining about parking the vast distance of a block farther away than usual, and Zekiel recalls a recent too close for comfort encounter with the LA State Police. The sesh turns to the strain of the day, Girl Scout Kush, which proves to be quite an effective Indica to say the least. Zekiel then brings out a batch of Green Dragon(a.k.a. Green Monster) tincture he made using a magic butter machine, some Haze, and a fancy highly flammable grain alcohol from Poland that they probably aren’t pronouncing correctly. He walks us through the process of making it for the occasion of going on a beach vacation recently, and gives a dosage report, the lads recall prior attempts with Green Dragon, and Zekiel manages to get it through the airport. The sesh turns to acknowledging the march of time and age with the discovery of Zekiel enjoying sparkling water and brussel sprouts, which leads to a discussion of how the senses change with age that then manages to turn into a semi-review of the movie High Fidelity. The ramble flows back to Zekiel’s recent trip to the beach, and the complicated issues still facing cannabis users even in 2021. The vacay convo leads to what the lads have been reading lately, with Zekiel going historical non-fiction about New Orleans(Missing New Orleans), and Magick Sam going through the latest comics he’s been into lately (Sandman Universe/Rat Queens/East of West and more). This leads to Zekiel making the startling discovery that the substance referred to in Game of Thrones as “milk of the poppy” is NOT in fact “milk of the puppy” and the world changes.  Magick Sam then gives a recommendation for the Loki series, both lads give thumbs up to the Lokigator, and they get into the new Black Widow film and the future path of the Marvel Universe. Multiverse. On this special 420 episode we bring you our second ever movie special!!! This time we are joined by guest star @7feetHi Theodus Crane as we take in Mortal Kombat (2021).  Before getting things going they get into their strains of the day with a note on the hallmarks of cheese strains and using kief as a top off. Then they get into the days of playing the MK video games, and try to recall what character did what and which game, with little success. The chat turns to a quick aside on the nature of “money grab” movies and action franchises and video game movies of note. Before getting the movie finally going the lads go over what they’re looking for in this iteration of the Mortal Kombat universe. Once they pause for reloading the pieces and joints, they give their midpoint thoughts so far: it’s kinda a really good bad movie, but the Mortal Kombat-y-ness is on point, and the fight scenes are pretty cool, and the very strong opening scene could have been its own movie. They also note the tones and elements that are keeping them into this fantasy action fun mess and ponder that somehow everyone likes Kano now.
