Episode 57 - Nick Mclean

Meet Nick McLean. Commercial airline pilot to real estate agent. His journey started in March 2008 out of necessity and he’s built an incredible business out of survival. Nick found himself backed in a corner after his first year in real estate. With one transaction under his belt, starting a new career in real estate in 2009 during a housing crisis and having to make the decision to take the bus or spend his cash on gas driving a car. This was an important decision for him as his success depended on it. He could survive a month paying for gas or 4 months on the bus… The next 12 months, Nick closed 12 transactions by embracing personal development and committing to sales. The third year, he hit 32 transactions! What did he do different? Nothing, he was just getting better by being consistent and showing up every single day. Nick attributes his success to the Marshmello test. The longer you can hold out, the more successful you’ll be. You will and need to survive. This is the only difference between real estate agents that fail vs. thrive, it’s deciding to survive. If you have not heard of the Marshmello test, google it.  We discuss taking small steps to go big, procrastinating, being disciplined, having tiny habits, staying in survival mode to propel you forward and making things you need to do simpler. Nick explains the hidden power of staying calm when prospecting and saving your energy for when you NEED it. Here’s the example: while Prospecting, 85% of your time you are NOT on the phone or in front of people.
