Episode 6 - Bruce Thornton of 111 Juice Bar

from Pittsburgh Wellness Collective Podcast · host Pittsburgh Wellness Collective

Bruce was born in El Paso, TX and spent the first 7 years of his life growing up in a multi-family unit in Boston, MA. The neighborhood was Mattapan and part of his mother’s side of the family still resides on Evelyn St. Several years ago, Bruce made a trip to see his grandmother. While there and in the search of food, he came across a new juice and smoothie bar. It changed his life. This moment set him on the path to 1:11 Juice Bar. He still channels that shop’s owner every day by being as hospitable, engaging, and passionate about juice. The smoothies tasted incredible and the overall vibe was something Bruce knew he wanted to create for Pittsburgh communities. With that vision in mind, Bruce has been tireless in his push to grow the seed that was planted in a pre-pandemic world. He comes from a long line of entrepreneurs and wants his children to see what is possible. Starting in the food and beverage industry was and still is considered a really risky venture, but it was the right venture for Bruce to fulfill his dream. His belief is, the time is now to take hold of the many benefits juice has to offer and find a dynamic way to get it into the hands of as many people as possible. Juice is for everyone. No matter your background, no matter your occupation, no matter your race–access to a nutrient rich, organic product should be for all. And he will make it so.
