Episode 655: When Did Eating Become So Complicated?
from Grace & Grit Podcast · host Grace & Grit LLC
We have taken one of the most basic human activities and turned it into an anxiety-producing intellectual exercise. In this episode I hold a nuanced position: I am not dismissing food tracking, macro counting, or structured eating approaches. For many women, especially those who have been eating in ways that have disconnected them from their body's signals for years, some structure genuinely helps. But there is a version of nutritional complexity that has gone too far, where the rules are so contradictory and the fear of eating the wrong thing so pervasive that eating itself has become a source of chronic stress. I share what simplicity in eating actually looks like in practice: home cooking, fewer ingredients, eating at regular intervals, sitting down at a table, slowing down enough to taste what you are eating. And I make the case that the energy and attention you bring to how you eat matters as much as what you eat. Want to keep going?
