Episode 655: When Did Eating Become So Complicated?

We have taken one of the most basic human activities and turned it into an anxiety-producing intellectual exercise. In this episode I hold a nuanced position: I am not dismissing food tracking, macro counting, or structured eating approaches. For many women, especially those who have been eating in ways that have disconnected them from their body's signals for years, some structure genuinely helps. But there is a version of nutritional complexity that has gone too far, where the rules are so contradictory and the fear of eating the wrong thing so pervasive that eating itself has become a source of chronic stress. I share what simplicity in eating actually looks like in practice: home cooking, fewer ingredients, eating at regular intervals, sitting down at a table, slowing down enough to taste what you are eating. And I make the case that the energy and attention you bring to how you eat matters as much as what you eat. Want to keep going? Episode 654: Your Attention Is Part of Your Health

Most of us think carefully about what we put in our bodies. Very few of us think with equal intentionality about what we put in our minds. In this episode I make the case that your attention is a health variable. What it lands on, repeatedly, becomes the environment your nervous system lives in. And that environment is either building your capacity or quietly eroding it. I share the filter I personally use when I notice I am feeling overwhelmed: what have I been consuming? Because so often the anxiety is not about my life. It is about the inputs I have been absorbing. Alarming news, outrage-based content, comparison-provoking social media, these things do not just feel bad. They train the nervous system to operate in a state of low-level threat response. You have far more agency over this than you might think. And exercising it is one of the most health-promoting things available to you. Ready to go deeper? Episode 653: Who Can You Call at 2 A.M.?

You can be in a room of ten thousand people and feel completely alone. If no one there actually knows you, the numbers mean nothing. In this episode I explore the difference between being connected and being truly known, and why that distinction may be the most important relational one of your life. I share my own honest reckoning with the limits of surface connection and my growing craving for real depth in my relational world, the kind that does not happen in a comment section or a DM. I also offer what I think is the most clarifying question available: if something happened at 2 in the morning, who would you call? Not text. Call. Knowing they would pick up, show up, and hold what you are carrying. If a name came to mind immediately, hold that relationship with both hands. If the question gave you pause, that is information worth sitting with. Want everything in one place? Episode 652: The Case for Morning Light

This is not a biohacking episode. I am not going to tell you to buy a special lamp or track your lux levels. I just want to make the case for something so simple and so free that we have almost entirely stopped doing it: going outside in the morning and letting daylight reach your eyes. In this episode I share how my nine-month-old Great Dane Tilly accidentally became my most reliable wellness accountability partner, the research on what morning light actually does to your circadian system, cortisol, melatonin, and sleep quality, and the problem with spending most of our waking hours under artificial junk light. Getting outside in the morning, before the screen, before the to-do list takes over, is one of the simplest and most impactful things available to you. Your biology is still remarkably responsive to something as basic as daylight. Let it do its job. Want to keep going? Episode 651: What If Fun Is a Health Metric?

What if we tracked laughter and play and genuine enjoyment with even a fraction of the enthusiasm we bring to our step counts and protein grams? In this episode I make the case that fun is not frivolous. It is a sustainability mechanism. And in a long-term health practice, sustainability is everything. I explore the concept of bringing magic to the mundane: what happens when you approach cooking with presence and music instead of efficiency, when you consider the route of your walk or who you move with or the playlist that actually makes you want to move. These are not small things. They are the difference between a practice you sustain and one you eventually abandon. I also offer a simple honest audit: where in your health practice right now are you experiencing genuine dread? Because dread is information. And it is not a sustainable fuel. Ready to go deeper? Episode 650: Your Body Loves a Rhythm

Your body is not asking for a perfect schedule. It is asking for predictability. In this episode I explore how the body's circadian rhythm, the internal clock regulating nearly every physiological process, is set and sustained by consistent external cues: light, meal timing, movement, sleep windows. When those cues are reliable, the body can do its work efficiently. When they are scattered, the system has to constantly recalibrate, and that costs energy. I also share one of the most concrete illustrations I know of how trainable the body actually is: the metabolism. Women who consistently delay their first meal stop feeling hungry in the morning. Women who shift to eating within an hour of waking become ravenously hungry at that time within weeks. The body adapts to what you give it consistently. That responsiveness is one of the most underappreciated tools available to you. Want everything in one place? Episode 649: Do You Have Enough to Look Forward To?

My husband and I were talking recently about how full and heavy midlife feels right now. The parents to care for, the teenager still at home, the business to run, the relationship to tend. And underneath that conversation was something surprising: the weight of it is also what keeps us going. In this episode I make the case that having something to look forward to is not a luxury. It is a health variable. Anticipation activates the brain's dopamine system in ways that genuinely support mood, motivation, and engagement with life. When nothing is on the horizon, life starts to feel flat in a way that is not just emotional. It is physiological. I also explore a pattern I see repeatedly in coaching: people who retire and discover that having nothing they have to do turns out to be its own kind of problem. The weight of obligation and the aliveness it produces are more connected than most of us realize. Want to keep going? Episode 648: The Health Cost of Being in a Hurry

You can eat well, exercise consistently, and sleep seven hours a night. And still spend your entire day physiologically rushing. In this episode I make the case that chronic hurry has a real and measurable health cost that most of us are completely underestimating. When the nervous system is in a constant low-grade state of urgency, it affects digestion, immune function, sleep quality, cognitive performance, and the ability to feel present in your own life. I also explore what I think is the deeper cost of hurry: the life we miss while moving too fast to experience it. The conversations that deserved more presence. The meals that became things to get through. The moments that passed without ever actually landing. Slowing down is not laziness. It is a physiological necessity and a prerequisite for a life that actually feels like yours. Ready to go deeper? Episode 647: Your Social Life Might Need Progressive Overload

In strength training, if you never increase the challenge, you stop getting stronger. The body adapts and then plateaus. The same thing happens in your social life. In this episode I take one of the foundational principles of physical training and apply it to relational health, because a lot of us have been lifting the same relational weight for years. Same people, same conversations, same comfortable equilibrium. And then we wonder why our social lives feel flat or unfulfilling. I explore what relational complacency actually looks like, why it is so easy to settle into it, and what progressive overload actually means when applied to connection: finding new circles, having the challenging conversation, approaching existing relationships with more honesty and curiosity than comfort. Episode 646: Boring Works

After thirty years in the wellness industry and hundreds of conversations with extraordinary health experts, I keep arriving at the same conclusion. Not a revolutionary one. A remarkably unsexy one. The basics work. In this episode I share the turning point in my own life that proved this to me beyond any doubt, including my experience with a program called Genesis Transformation, where I watched women deep in perimenopause transform their bodies by doing nothing more exotic than drinking water, strength training, sleeping, eating enough protein, and parenting their brains. What I also share is the framework I have built my entire coaching career around, the Five to Thrive, plus the two additions I would make today: community and time in nature. The breakthrough you are looking for is probably not a new protocol. It is probably a deeper and more consistent relationship with what you already know works. Want to keep going? Episode 645: The Envy You Are Not Admitting To

There is a feeling most of us were taught to be ashamed of. We call it a sin. We hide it. We dress it up as something more acceptable. But what if envy, honestly examined, is actually one of the most useful signals available to you? In this episode I draw the distinction between jealousy, which makes me feel small and defensive, and envy, which points at something I desire. I share my own experience following Misty Tripoli, the founder of the Groove dance movement, and how sitting with what I envy about her revealed something important about what I want for myself. Envy, properly examined, is not a character flaw. It is a compass. And it is worth following. Want everything in one place? Episode 644: Alone but Not Lonely

I have been alone but not lonely. And I have been surrounded by people and felt profoundly alone. Those are two completely different experiences. And understanding the difference between them might change how you relate to both. In this episode I draw a clear distinction between solitude and loneliness, share my own deep craving for solitude and the permission it took to finally pursue it without guilt, and explore why the loneliness I see most often in the women I work with is not the loneliness of physical isolation. It is the loneliness of not feeling truly known. That kind of loneliness is not solved by more time with people. It is solved by deeper connection, starting with yourself. Want to keep going? Episode 643: The Art of Receiving

I am very good at giving. I spent a long time being terrible at receiving. And I have come to understand that the inability to receive is not humility. It is a wall. And it keeps love out just as effectively as it keeps pain out. In this episode I share the story of my friend Colleen volunteering at my first retreat and what happened when I finally said yes to being supported. What I discovered completely reframed how I think about receiving. When I refuse it, I am not protecting anyone. I am denying the people who care about me the opportunity to love me. And I am denying myself the experience of being loved. I also name the three things that typically sit underneath the inability to receive: vulnerability, worth, and control. And I offer a simple practice for beginning to let care in. Ready to go deeper? Episode 642: The Inner Critic at Midlife

There is a voice that most of us know intimately. The one that says you are not doing enough, not being enough, not achieving enough. At midlife, that voice often gets louder. In this episode I share my own evolving relationship with my inner critic, including how I have learned to stop trying to silence her and start turning her questions back around. When she asks why I am not doing more, I have learned to answer: why not me? Why not this version, this season, doing things the way I am doing them? I also explore the reframe that has helped me most, treating the inner critic not as an enemy but as information, and share research on why self-compassion actually outperforms self-criticism when it comes to motivation, resilience, and performance. Episode 641: How to Make Your Journaling Practice Richer

Journaling is not about filling pages. It is about going somewhere you have not been before. And the quality of where you end up is almost entirely determined by the quality of the question you start with. In this episode I reframe journaling as a practice of radical self-inquiry rather than a diary or a gratitude list. I share a collection of less obvious questions worth sitting with, including what am I pretending not to know, what feeling do I keep avoiding and what is it trying to tell me, and what story am I telling about this situation that may not actually be true. I also offer practical ways to build the habit so it actually sticks. What you get out of journaling is largely what you bring to the depth of the question and the honesty of the answer. It is not always fun. It is revealing. And that is the whole point. Want to keep going? Episode 640: Rest or Story? How to Tell the Difference

Do you actually need rest right now? Or is rest the story you are telling yourself to avoid doing the thing? These are two very different situations. And knowing the difference might change everything about how you approach your days. A client of mine recently brought this question to me. She said she always feels like she needs to rest, no matter what, and she was starting to wonder whether that was a real need or a habit of avoidance so normalized she could no longer tell the difference. That is one of the most self-aware questions someone can ask. In this episode I share how to distinguish genuine depletion from resistance, what real rest actually feels like on the other side, and why committing to just ten minutes is almost always the most honest move you can make. Episode 638: Learning to Love the Hallway

There is a space between who you have been and who you are becoming. It is not comfortable. It is not certain. And it is not optional. I call it the hallway. In this episode I explore what liminal space actually is, why midlife is by its very nature a liminal season, and how I have had to learn to stop treating the hallway like a crisis and start treating it like a classroom. I used to hate not knowing what was next. I wanted certainty and guarantees and forward momentum. Now I am learning to trust that what is supposed to emerge from this space will emerge in its own time. And the quality of what begins on the other side is often directly related to how honestly and patiently you inhabit the in-between. Want to keep going? Episode 637: Your Relationship with Capacity

A lot of women tell me they have a healthy relationship with their capacity. And then I look at their schedule. Those two things do not always match. In this episode I draw a clear distinction between enduring and thriving, and make the case that a healthy relationship with capacity starts with getting radically honest about the resources you actually have available right now. Not the ones you wish you had. Not the ones you had five years ago. The ones that are genuinely present today. I can tell a tremendous amount about a woman's relationship with capacity by how her schedule is built. Overcommitting is not ambition. It is often a delusional relationship with what is actually possible. And the cost of that delusion lands in the body, the relationships, and the quality of everything she is trying to do. Episode 636: Things Putting Life in My Life Right Now

I often say that health is answering the question: how much life do you have in your life? Today I want to get personal and answer that question myself. In this episode I share what is genuinely infusing my life with more aliveness right now. The Montana seasons and how much easier it is to be outside. My puppy Tilly, who makes me laugh out loud a dozen times a day and who was such a gift in the season of losing our Great Dane Sully. Befriending cardio in new ways, including jump rope and movement with friends. Savoring the time I have left with my dad and with my son before he leaves home. Evening walks and real conversations with my husband. And turning 50 in February, which feels surprisingly exciting rather than daunting. This is a lighter episode. Episode 635: New Level, New Devil

Every time you elevate your life in some way, the problems do not go away. They change form. My mom used to say it to me when my son was small: little kids, little problems. Big kids, big problems. She was right. And the same thing is true in business, in health, in every arena where you are growing. In this episode I explore the concept of new level, new devil and why understanding it is one of the most important things you can do to protect yourself from discouragement. When you are first building a health practice you focus on one thing. The longer you are in the arena the more you understand how everything is connected. You start wishing for the simplicity of being a beginner. And I want to offer you a reframe: that nostalgia for simpler problems is actually evidence of how far you have come. Want to keep going? Episode 634: Close the Chapter

Not every chapter of your life is supposed to run on forever. And the chapters that have ended are not asking you to grieve them indefinitely. They are asking you to close them, honor them, and walk into what comes next. In this episode I lead with the invitation to close rather than the grief of ending, because I see too many women lingering in chapters that have clearly concluded and paying a real health cost for it. The open loop of an unfinished chapter takes up psychological and emotional bandwidth whether you realize it or not. I also share what closing a chapter with intention actually looks like, and why the space it creates is often where the most important next things begin. Ready to go deeper? Episode 633: The Courage to Be Disliked

I have recommended the book The Courage to Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga to almost every woman I have ever worked with. Because so many of the women I work with are doing enormous amounts of invisible labor in service of not being disliked. We say yes when we mean no. We stay in things we have outgrown. We dim ourselves so others are not uncomfortable. We apologize for taking up space. In this episode I explore what becomes possible when you start developing the courage to be disliked, and why living from the inside out rather than the outside in is one of the most profound and health-promoting shifts a woman can make in midlife. Episode 632: Stewardship: The Deeper Frame for Self-Leadership

What if the way you think about your health and your life shifted from self-improvement to stewardship? From fixing what is broken to honoring what you have been given? I think that shift changes everything. In this episode I explore stewardship as the deeper intention beneath all of the work I do. You have been given one body. One life. The work is not to fix yourself. It is to take extraordinary care of what you have been entrusted with. I also share how stewardship and self-leadership work together, one as the why and one as the how, and why that distinction matters more than most people realize. Want to keep going? Episode 631: Optimization Is Not the Answer

Bryan Johnson has spent an estimated two million dollars a year trying to reverse his biological age. He tracks everything. Optimizes everything. Submits to more medical testing than most people experience in a lifetime. And recently, he was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition. I am not sharing this to pile on. I am sharing it because I think it illustrates something important that we need to talk about. Health is not a problem to be solved through enough data and enough precision. The human body is a living system in constant relationship with your emotions, your connections, your sense of meaning, and your nervous system. No supplement stack compensates for all of that. In this episode I make the case for what actually builds health, and why optimization, as a primary strategy, misses the point. Ready to go deeper? Episode 630: Both/And: Making Peace with the Complexity of Being Human

We love a clean answer. We love to know exactly how we feel and exactly what something means. But life is almost never that simple. And insisting that it should be is one of the quietest ways we make ourselves suffer. In this episode I make the case for both/and thinking as one of the most sophisticated and health-promoting capacities a human being can develop. I can be deeply grateful for my life and also exhausted by it. I can love someone completely and also need distance from them. I can be proud of something I did and clearly see where I fell short. Both can be true. And the moment I stop demanding that only one be true, I stop fighting with myself. Want everything in one place? Episode 629: Beyond Resilience: The Case for Becoming Antifragile

Most of us have been told that resilience is the goal. To bounce back. To withstand the hard things. But what if there is something beyond resilience? Nassim Nicholas Taleb introduced a concept in his book Antifragile that I have not been able to stop thinking about. Some systems do not just withstand stress. They actually get stronger because of it. He calls this antifragile. And it goes beyond resilience in a way that I think every midlife woman needs to understand. In this episode I explain the three categories of fragile, resilient, and antifragile, share why my own current season of stress feels like it is building me rather than breaking me, and make the case for why our excessive need for safety and comfort is making us more fragile over time, not less. Episode 628: Some Relationships Are Complete

Not every relationship is meant to last forever. And treating one that has run its course as a failure may be one of the most unnecessary sources of suffering we create for ourselves. In this episode I introduce the idea of a relationship being complete rather than broken, and why that distinction changes everything about how we move through endings. A relationship that helped you through your twenties may not be the relationship you need in your forties. That does not mean it was not real or valuable. It means it did its work. I also name the specific ways women create unnecessary suffering by clinging to connections that were never designed to be permanent, and offer a more grace-filled way of honoring what something gave you before letting it go. Episode 627: Meaning Is the Medicine

We spend a lot of energy chasing happiness. But what if happiness was never the deepest goal? Viktor Frankl was an Austrian psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor who spent years in Nazi concentration camps, including Auschwitz. What he observed there, about the difference between the people who survived and those who did not, became the foundation of one of the most important books ever written about being human. That book is Man's Search for Meaning. In this episode I explore the distinction between happiness and meaning, why meaning is a stronger predictor of wellbeing than moment-to-moment positive emotion, and why midlife is an ideal season to ask the question: what am I in service of right now? The answer may be more available than you think. Want everything in one place? Episode 626: Problem Solving Is the Path

I heard a quote years ago that I have never been able to shake. I have no idea who said it, but here it is: life is one long series of problem solving, and the sooner you accept that fact, the less you will suffer. In this episode I make the case that problems are not the interruption to your life. They are the content of it. The women who age most gracefully are not the ones whose lives have fewer problems. They are the ones who have made peace with that fact and invested in becoming better at navigating them. I also share what the research tells us about post-traumatic growth, and why adversity, when processed rather than suppressed, tends to produce more wisdom, resilience, and life satisfaction than smooth sailing ever could. Episode 625: Do the Opposite

When I was a personal trainer, one of my favorite techniques was to ask clients to do the exact opposite of their habitual movement pattern. Not because the opposite was right. It obviously was not. But because the experience of the extreme helped them find the middle. The most functional place was almost always somewhere between the two. And they could not find it until they had felt what was on the other side of their habit. In this episode I take that principle far beyond physical training and apply it to how we live. What are the things you do every day so automatically you have stopped noticing them? What would the opposite feel like? I share my own practice of slowing way down, which is the direct opposite of my natural speed, and what I consistently find waiting in that middle ground. Ready to go deeper? Episode 624: Minimalism as a Nutrient, Not an Aesthetic

We talk about minimalism like it is a design trend. Something you see in a magazine. Clean lines. Empty shelves. The five coffee cups you actually love instead of the forty you have accumulated. But that is not what I want to talk about today. In this episode I make the case for minimalism as something your brain and nervous system actually need. When your environment is cluttered, your nervous system is working. It is processing and filtering everything around you whether you ask it to or not. That work has a cost. And when you clear the clutter, you are not just tidying. You are giving your brain relief. I also share how I practice minimalism in my own home, my wardrobe, and my business right now, and why doing fewer things better has become the standard I am actively building toward. Episode 623: Burnout, Hormones & the Hidden Mental Load w/ Jenn Pike

If you've been blaming your hormones for the exhaustion, mood swings, stubborn weight, and "I don't feel like myself" fog of midlife—this conversation will change the way you see what's really happening.  In this episode, Jenn Pike and I pull back the curtain on the hidden drivers behind burnout in perimenopause and beyond: overfunctioning, people-pleasing, carrying the mental load, and trying to "fix" your body while your nervous system is still stuck in survival mode.  We talk about what sustainable healing actually looks like (without perfectionism), where women give their power away in the wellness space, and simple ways to reconnect with your body when you feel overwhelmed and disconnected. Episode 622: What Would Love Do Here?

My eight-month-old puppy Tilly recently chewed through my jump rope. She has also excavated my gym bag, destroyed a hip roller, and shown zero remorse for any of it. And I love her completely. Not one bit less. In this episode I use that gap, between what she does and how I feel about her, to explore the concept of unconditional love. Most of the love in our lives is conditional. We have unwritten manuals that govern who gets our warmth and when. Unconditional love is something different entirely. And asking yourself the question "what would love do here?" is one of the most powerful self-leadership practices I know. I also bring this home to the relationship that matters most: the one you have with yourself. Want to keep going? Episode 621: Energy Management Is the New Time Management

Nir Eyal wrote that time management is really pain management. I think there is profound truth in that. But what I am even more passionate about these days is energy management. Because managing your time means nothing if you have no energy to spend in it. In this episode I make the case that at midlife, most of us have more responsibility than we have ever had and less energy than we used to. If we do not put serious forethought into how we spend our energy each day, life runs us. And we end up feeling resentful, unfulfilled, and perpetually behind. I share what poor energy management actually looks like in practice and offer three questions to ask yourself every night that will change how you approach the next day. Ready to go deeper? Episode 620: A Diagnosis Is Not the Final Word

Health is not the absence of disease. I feel strongly about this, and I want to make the case for it today. In this episode I share why I believe health is not binary. Your physical health being compromised does not mean your health as a whole is gone. It means one dimension is under strain. And there are other dimensions still available to you. I have coached women navigating cancer, Parkinson's, ALS, and many other serious diagnoses. I would not have been doing that work if I believed the diagnosis was the final word on what someone was capable of. A diagnosis tells you what you are dealing with in one dimension of your health. It does not tell you who you are. How you show up in the face of what you are dealing with is everything. That is the real measure of health. Want everything in one place? Episode 619: Health Is a Practice of Self-Leadership

I teach self-leadership. I just happen to use health as the arena. Because if you can learn to lead yourself here, you can learn to lead yourself anywhere. In this episode I make the case that the skills required to build a consistent health practice are the exact same skills that build a successful business, a thriving relationship, and a financially stable life. The principles are identical. Only the arena is different. If you have ever felt disciplined in one area of your life but completely unable to get it together in another, this episode is for you. Self-leadership is transferable. It is a muscle, not a fixed trait. And your body is the most honest training ground available for building it. Want to keep going? Episode 618: Living YOUR Code

I wrote The Consistency Code to help people live more consistently. But here is what I have learned: consistency toward what? Before the principles mean anything, you have to answer that question. In this episode I make the case that getting radically clear on your values and standards is not optional. It is the only foundation from which meaningful consistency can actually be built. Without it, you are being disciplined toward things that were never truly yours to begin with. You are chasing rainbows. I also share the questions worth sitting with to start building a code that is genuinely yours at this age and stage of life. Not someone else's definition of health or success. Yours. This episode is also a direct invitation to join me on Substack, where every Tuesday I go live in something called The Code, a behind-the-scenes look at how I apply these principles in my own life in real time. Episode 617: Stop Arguing for Your Brokenness

We are all building a case for something every single day. The question is whether you are building a case for what you are capable of, or a case for why you cannot. In this episode I name the ways we argue for our own limitations, often with impressive precision. We have evidence. We have history. We have a courtroom's worth of justification for why change is not available to us. I also speak to the label trap, the way certain words or diagnoses can become the closing argument in a case for brokenness rather than the door that opens inquiry. I have coached women navigating cancer, Parkinson's, and ALS, and I would not have been doing that work if I believed a diagnosis was the final word on what someone was capable of. You can argue for your possibility or your limitations. You cannot do both at the same time. This episode challenges you to choose which case is worth building. Ready to go deeper? Episode 616: It's Time for a Season of Grit

There are seasons in life that ask you to rest. And then there are seasons that ask you to rise. I have been living in the first one for a while. And I can feel the second one coming. In this episode I talk about what a season of grit actually is and what it is not. It is not punishment. It is not grinding yourself into the ground. It is the deliberate decision to turn the dial of discipline up in a specific area of your life, knowing that you will be a little more tired and a little more sore, and making that trade consciously because you know what is on the other side. I also speak directly to the woman who has been extending herself too much grace for too long. Not every season of ease is recovery. Sometimes it has quietly become avoidance. And this episode is the nudge to notice the difference and turn the dial. Want everything in one place? Episode 615: What You Put Up With Is What You Become

I read something recently that stopped me cold. The idea was this: you don't become what you aspire to. You become what you tolerate. I have not been able to stop thinking about it since. In this episode I explore how the standards we keep, or fail to keep, quietly shape the life we are actually living. What we tolerate in our relationships, our work, our habits, and our own inner dialogue is not neutral. It accumulates. It becomes us. I also share why midlife may actually be the perfect season to get radically honest about this. As estrogen and progesterone decline, our ability to chemically buffer stress changes with them. The irritability and shorter patience that so many women experience in this season may not be a malfunction. It may be your biology turning up the volume on something that has always needed your attention. The takeaway is simple and worth carrying with you: stay wildly curious about what you are tolerating and why. Want to keep going? Episode 614: The Goal You Think Is Impossible (Is the One Worth Chasing)

What if the goal that scares you most is the one that's most worth pursuing? Not because you're guaranteed to achieve it. But because of who you'll become in the process. In this episode, I revisit a concept I've taught for years: impossible goals. The goals that require you to grow beyond your current identity, habits, and comfort zone. Using my decade long journey of writing The Consistency Code as an example, I share why the pursuit of a meaningful goal often matters more than the outcome itself. You don't need certainty. You don't need guarantees. You just need a reason that's bigger than your fear. Ready to go deeper? Episode 613: The Comfort Crisis: Why Easy Is Killing Us

Modern life has become incredibly comfortable. And that's not always a good thing. We can avoid effort, discomfort, uncertainty, boredom, and challenge with the push of a button. But something important gets lost when life becomes too easy. In this episode, I draw on Michael Easter's work in The Comfort Crisis and explore why growth, vitality, confidence, and meaning are so often found on the other side of discomfort. The choice isn't between comfort and discomfort. It's between the discomfort that helps you grow and the discomfort that slowly shrinks your life. One builds resilience. The other builds regret. Choose carefully. Want to keep going? Episode 612: In Pursuit of Joy: Why Your Joyspan Matters as Much as Your Lifespan

We spend a lot of time talking about lifespan. And increasingly, we talk about healthspan. But what about joy span? What if one of the most important measures of a life is how much joy we actually experience while we're living it? In this episode, I explore the difference between happiness and joy, introduce the concept of joyspan, and share practical ways to become more aware of the joy that already exists around you. Joy isn't frivolous. It isn't selfish. And it certainly isn't something to postpone until everything else is handled. Joy is part of what makes a life worth living. Want everything in one place? Episode 611: Midlife Is a Reckoning (And That's Not a Bad Thing)

I think midlife is a second loss of innocence. A moment when many of the stories we've told ourselves stop working. The illusion that we have endless time. The belief that effort guarantees outcomes. The fantasy that life will eventually stop being hard. In this episode, I reflect on a conversation that led me to see midlife differently and explore why this season can feel both painful and profoundly liberating. A reckoning isn't a punishment. It's an invitation. To see more clearly. To live more honestly. And to treat yourself with a level of compassion that only wisdom can teach. Ready to go deeper? Episode 610: Mind the Dose: The Health Principle Nobody Talks About

Most health problems don't come from a single choice. They come from the accumulation of many choices. One glass of wine isn't the issue. One missed workout isn't the issue. One night of poor sleep isn't the issue. In this episode, I explore the concept of dose and why frequency matters far more than most people realize. We'll talk about the gap between the stories we tell ourselves and the patterns we're actually living, along with practical ways to start measuring what matters. Because your health isn't being shaped by what you do occasionally. It's being shaped by what you do repeatedly. Want to keep going? Episode 609: The Bill Always Comes Due (What Avoidance Is Really Costing You)

Avoidance feels good in the short term. That's why we do it. We postpone the conversation. Skip the workout. Ignore the symptom. Reach for the distraction. And for a moment, we feel relief. But avoidance is never free. In this episode, I explore why the things we avoid tend to grow heavier with time and why midlife is often when the accumulated cost becomes impossible to ignore. This isn't a conversation about shame. It's a conversation about honesty. Because the bill always comes due. The only question is how long you're willing to let interest accumulate. Episode 608: The Two Fears That Are Keeping You Stuck

Most conversations about fear focus on one thing: the fear of failure. But what if that's not the fear that's actually running the show? In this episode, I explore two fears I see constantly in midlife women and have experienced myself: the fear of success and the fear of not succeeding. On the surface they seem completely different. In practice, they often create the exact same result. Stuckness. Together we'll unpack the questions hiding beneath both fears and why neither deserves the final say in how you live your life. Fear will always have an opinion. That doesn't mean it gets a vote. Want to keep going? Episode 607: You Can't Honor Yourself If You Don't Know Yourself

By midlife, most women have become experts in everyone else. What everyone else needs. What everyone else wants. What everyone else expects. And somewhere along the way, they lose touch with themselves. In this episode, I explore why self knowledge is the foundation of self trust, self respect, and self honoring. I share some of the practices that have helped me know myself more deeply, including solo travel, trying new experiences, entering unfamiliar environments, and asking better questions. The life you want cannot be built by someone who doesn't know who she is. Getting to know yourself isn't selfish. It's essential. Want everything in one place? Episode 606: Why Self Help Isn't Enough (And What to Do Instead)

I spent years collecting self help tools that never changed my life. Books. Podcasts. Courses. Certifications. I loved learning, but eventually I had to confront an uncomfortable truth: knowing what to do and doing it are not the same thing. In this episode, I explore the difference between self help and self leadership. One gathers tools. The other uses them. Both have value. But only one creates meaningful change. If you've ever felt like you know exactly what you need to do but still aren't doing it, this conversation is for you. Because the goal was never to become an expert in personal development. The goal was always to learn how to lead yourself. Ready to go deeper?
