Episode 7 - The Day After

Last episode, I told you about the night I almost didn't make it.This episode is about the morning I did.Surviving a suicide attempt doesn't magically fix the things that brought you there. PTSD doesn't disappear. Relationships don't repair themselves. Trust doesn't instantly come back. The consequences don't go away just because you're still alive.In Episode 7 of The War After the War, I talk about what happened after my darkest night the decision to remove firearms from my home, finally taking treatment seriously, accepting responsibility for the people I'd hurt, rebuilding relationships with my children and the people I love, and learning that PTSD can explain some of my behavior without excusing it.This isn't a story about being cured.I'm still going to therapy. I'm still dealing with PTSD and TBI. I'm still learning my warning signs.
