Episode 85: The Yogurt Shop Murders

from Crime, Cults, & Coffee · host Brynne

This episode was pre-recorded, but we wanted to make a point of acknowledging the horrific school shooting that took place in Uvalde, Texas on May 24th. The murder of these innocent lives is above and beyond a tragedy and has become way too commonplace in our society. Thoughts and prayers are not enough right now for the families and the lives of the children and educators that were lost— but we are sending our deepest condolences and hopes of active change. 1999 was when a greater action should’ve started and reverberated in 2012, among countless other times. By now this should be more preventable. Never again should a child lose their life like this. Never again should anyone fear getting through a school day or dropping their child off at school. TRIGGER WARNING: Case contains graphic details and mention of rape. This case took place in Austin, Texas on December 6, 1991. A little before midnight, a fire was reported at a frozen yogurt shop called I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt! … but it wasn’t just a fire when first responders arrived at the scene. Four teens had been found murdered and with that came multiple eyewitness accounts, trials, and lotsss of questions. Some of which still remain unanswered decades later. If you have any information about the Yogurt Shop Murders: * Call Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS OR * Austin Police Department Homicide tip line at 512-477-3588
