Aarti (आरती) is a devotional song sung to show devotion towards a deity and to Glorify a deity. Aarti is sung during Ritual of Aarti, in which flame is offered to deity. The word Aarti is derived from the Sanskrit word Aratrika (आरात्रिक), which means something that removes darkness. शास्त्रों में बताया गया है कि आरती शब्द संस्कृत के आर्तिका शब्द से बना है। जिसका अर्थ है, अरिष्ट, विपत्ति, आपत्ति, कष्ट और क्लेश। भगवान की आरती को नीराजन भी कहा जाता है। नीराजन का अर्थ है किसी स्थान को विशेष रूप से प्रकाशित करना। शास्त्रों में बताए गए नियमों के अनुसार, आरती के इन्हीं दो अर्थों के आधार पर भगवान की आरती करने के दो कारण बताए गए हैं।
