Episode 98. The Murder of Irene Garza
from Cafecito & Crime · host Estela and Barbara
On April 16, 1960, 25-year-old Irene Garza went to confession as she did every Saturday, but on this particular night, Irene would not make it home afterward. Her body would be floating in a canal five days after her disappearance, and unfortunately, by 1962, her case would go cold. It would be until 2002 when her case got taken over by the Texas Ranger's new cold case unit, that new light was shed on the initial 1960 investigation where a priest was the main suspect and how he was aided by the people who were supposed to be seeking justice for Irene.
