Episode 99: Virgins
from Who Art Thou?
Today I am joined by Michael Smyth of the Belfast based shoegaze band, Virgins! We will be talking about the band's album 'nothing hurt and everything was beautiful', released in April through blowtorch records. The album finds the band exploring a wider sonic palette, seamlessly moving between the gaze-pop of ‘slowly, long’ and ‘disappearer’, to the dance influenced ‘softer’ and to the heavy, expansive and ethereal ‘pale fire’ and ‘tend’. Their captivating sound doesn’t rely on recycling shoegaze tropes but brings a fresh and contemporary approach to the genre. It is legitimately one of my favourite releases of the year.On top of all this, Michael is also a promoter and do PR as Old Crows Promotions and a booking agent as Fever Dream Touring so we'll be chatting about some of the events he has put on, including Gazefest, which is a shoegaze festival that will be going on in Belfast and Dublin this year, featuring an incredible stacked lineup of incredible bands.Virgins on SpotifyVirgins on linktree Hosted on Acast.
