He was taught songs and licks when he was young, in the style of Jim Hindrex, Albert King, B.B. King and others. In 1985, Gates began to play at blues competitions with his brother Eugene backing him on bass. Although Gales plays a right-handed guitar “upside-down” ( with the bass E string on the bottom), he was taught by his brother, who is left-handed, and never second-guessed the untraditional technique. In late 1990, Eric and Eugene Gales signed with Elektra Records. Eric has done a lot in his career. One of his songs say …“All I want to do is play my guitar. I come a long way.”But Eric’s grandfather played with Howlin’ Wolfe. He has a musical family, and he’s also musical. Eric said, “Things are going really good.”I was looking at the years and all the albums Eric made. He has been busy in his music through the years, and looks like he has an album out now titled Crown. The album cover looks awesome, and his song, I Want My Crown sounds nice. I’m Gail Nobles and your listening to Podcast and Blues. Today’s topic is Eric Gales.Blues Music
