The Yakuza, also known as gokudō, are members of transnational organized crime syndicates originating in Japan. Inspired by the true account of American journalist Jake Adelstein, Tokyo Vice introduced viewers to a neon-washed world of the criminal underbelly of Tokyo in Season 1. We met Jake (Elgort), a determined young journalist who teamed up with Detective Hiroto Katagiri (Watanabe) to uncover a dangerous story about a deadly crime boss. In Season 2, Adelstein gets swept up in the underworld once again and realizes just how much is on the line this time.
