Evening — August 28 — Genesis 2:9

Out of the ground the LORD God gave growth to every tree that is pleasing to the eye and good for food. And in the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. — Genesis 2:9Before sin entered the world, God planted the tree of life in Eden, a sign that eternal life is His gift—and it points straight to Christ, who is that life and who died so we could live. What Adam lost, the last Adam restores; in the new creation the tree of life grows beside the river of God, and everyone washed in the blood eats from it freely. Don't look for life anywhere else—it's found in Christ alone, given freely to all who come.
