Little children, keep yourselves from idols. — 1 John 5:21John commands us to keep from idols because our hearts are idol factories. An idol is anything you love more than Christ—money, reputation, comfort, even your own righteousness. The only way to keep from idols is to be captivated by a greater treasure. Jesus is the true and better portion; look to Him and the idols lose their grip.
