He lifted me up from the pit of despair, out of the miry clay; He set my feet upon a rock, and made my footsteps firm. — Psalm 40:2Before David's feet were on the rock, they were stuck in the miry clay. That's the Gospel in miniature: we were sinking, unable to pull ourselves out, but God reached down, lifted us up, and placed us on the solid foundation—Christ Jesus himself. Then he put a new song in our mouths.
