The purpose of this observance is to raise awareness around the importance of stroke prevention, treatment, and care. To promote the BE FAST (Balance, Eyes/vision - Face, Arms, Speech, Time) acronym to help save lives by recognizing the signs of stroke. The emphasis is on prevention as there are lifestyle behaviors like physical activity, diet, avoiding smoking or smoking cessation, stress management, managing comorbidities, and regular screening that contribute to decreased chance of stroke.
