He's from Houston, Mississippi, found as a low three-star by defensive line coach Randall Joyner, and he'd grown into a near five-star by the time he signed. Last season he led all Power 4 defensive tackles in quarterback pressures with 4.5 sacks — and the expectation here is 7 to 8 this year from a three-technique.2. Why the defense is the story. The transfer portal spending at Ole Miss had been running roughly 70-30 toward offense. This year the money went to a Power 4 safety and two Power 4 corners rather than lower-ceiling depth — Edwin Joseph from Florida State, Joenel Aguero from Georgia and Shareef Denson from Florida.3.
