EWU v City of Moscow/MPD: Public Records Lawsuit Over the Kohberger Files

The high-profile yet highly-sealed criminal case of Idaho v. Kohberger proceeded in Idaho state court for over 2.5 years until July 2025 when Mr. Kohberger agreed to plead guilty to all charges brought by a criminal indictment returned by an Idaho grand jury charging him with five first degree felony counts concerning the catastrophic events of November 13, 2022.In February 2026, a lawsuit was filed by EWU Media LLC who City of Moscow/Moscow Police Dept. alleging the City of Moscow/MPD wrongfully withheld information from the Kohberger investigation records after they filed public records requests.At the May 18, 2026 hearing before Judge Marshall, the court noted the Respondents have sought to dismiss the lawsuit.
