Exactly What is Financial Capital? A Look at Financing Your Business - Alternative and Traditional Sources of Capital

from The Finance Cafe · host The Finance Cafe

In this episode Shannon will sit down with Meryl Kaye De Leon, the Founder & Managing Partner of PERA Growth Hub, a financial services and consulting firm based in Vancouver, BC. They will be discussing what access to capital really means & why it’s one of the biggest barriers for entrepreneurs, how gender and other identities play a role in accessing capital, common forms of financing and considerations to think about for each, plus much more. Meryl started PERA to fill the gap between the flow of capital to entrepreneurs, business owners, and founders that need it most. Access to capital can either make or break businesses, and PERA’s mission is to democratize the process and assist entrepreneurs in securing the right sources of capital for their business. As a multidisciplinary executive, Meryl has held various roles in marketing, business operations, and most recently as a Director of Finance. Over her career, Meryl has led teams of all sizes from small start-up environments to entire departments for large publicly traded companies listed on the London Stock Exchange (FTSE100) and the Toronto Stock Exchange. Meryl is passionate about finance and start-up success, currently lending her time as a Committee Member and Mentor to various organizations within the community. Meryl earned her MBA with a major in Accounting from Syracuse University in New York, and was named one of the Top Female Founders to Watch in 2022. .
