Executive self awareness and leadership

from spiritual principles made practical's podcast · host Scott Friedman

You can only give what you have.  To help people on your team take ownership and maximize the benefits of their talents, you need to be an example of making that work. You need to write down with as much articulation as possible what your talents are and how you use them to benefit yourself and others.  Then you need to write down your weaknesses and how you design around them. Because example is the most powerful form of leadership, here's a list of what I perceive my talents to be and how I'm using them for my benefit and the benefit of others.  Also, a list of my weaknesses and how I address them. I am a great meditator.  In meditation I ask questions I want the answers to and listen for the answers to arise in my mind.  I know acting on the thoughts in my mind that are uplifting will benefit myself and others.  Everyone wants self acceptance, to be heard and valued.  As I accept myself more and more, I provide an environment that supports others in accepting themsleves.  I have a dogged persistance in accepting and aligning more and more with what's true.  Again, that supports others in being more honest with themselves. Weaknesses of mine include being impatient, giving up focusing on what is true to adopt commonly held beliefs that are false.  That includes going along to get along in an effort to feel more connected even though I know the only way to have the connection I desire is to be connected to myself.  I know and have experienced that when I'm connected to myself I'm connected to everyone.  Nevertheless, I still find myself falling into the destructive habit of adopting commonly held beliefs that don't work for me.  When I do that I create stress for myself.  That stress reminds me I've turned my back on what I know and it's time to recenter myself.
