Cutting-edge 21st century science can be found in the good book and was written thousands of years ago:

A merry heart does good like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones. Proverbs 17:22

This podcast shares how laughter can be a pleasant and  invigorating form of exercise. Someone called it "stationary jogging."

When you laugh, extra amounts of serotonin (the happiness hormone) are released.

Laughter is very helpful for the cardiovascular system because it is very similar to aerobic exercise.

You may not have noticed, but when you laugh you have to take deep breaths and get rid of excess air from your lungs. That is how you also get more oxygen in your blood and that improves energy and health.

Give it a try and let us know how you feel.
