Expert Session: Sodium & Sweat with Alan McCubbin

from The Compeat Waffle · host Compeat Performance

We welcome a very special guest on the Waffle this week, Advanced Sports Dietitian Alan McCubbin! Alan is an expert in all things sweat and sodium, recently completing his PhD in this very topic! So we have borrowed his knowledge to find out what sodium is, if/when it is important in sport, how to replace sodium and his thoughts around sweat testing. We also touch on timing, whether it affects cramps and much much more! Sodium and hydration can be really tricky topics with a lot of detail. It’s often hard to understand the complicated science that exists behind it all and there’s still a lot that Sports Science doesn’t quite know.
