Extreme Violence in School fights

What is going on in our kids schools? Why are the kids today so violent? Is social media a problem? What are the preventative steps we can take? School fights used to be about disagreements, hitting or kicking. Now these kids are killing each other through cyber bullying, stabbing, shooting, stomping and more. As a parent I don't want to worry about my kids safety at school... they spend so much time there!!! Teachers hitting kids, verbally abuse kids in class but where are the teachers with a higher standard? Kids should feel protected, appreciated and loved in a school.
