Ezra Ward-Packard on hallucinations, obstacles and how he overcomes challenges in the back country

from Stoke Podcast · host Quinn p Travis

Ezra is a professional ultra endurance cyclist who lives for new adventures. From small ultra races in Arizona, to the Tour Divide, he is determined to be the best racer out there. Ezra is a Type 1 diabetic so he explains how he manages to race ultra distances while managing his blood sugar and insulin. In today’s episode Ezra tells us stories of his hardest day/ days on the bike from crazy hallucinations, to low blood sugar, and a tooth infection in the middle of nowhere. Even though Ezra explains how difficult Ultras are, he also has a deep love for the sport. He says the bike teaches him life skills such as staying present in situations that are difficult, almost like having a short memory. The bike is spiritual, it shows us who we really are when we become broken.
