Meet Petra van der Wildt, an acupuncture specialist, holistic coach and massage therapist. Join us as we explore acupuncture and body awareness, what traditional Chinese medicine is really all about and the concepts of Yin and Yang and how this reflects on our bodies! I was born in Amsterdam and had a very traumatic birth experience, that I might not have been able to relate to much, if I hadn’t had recurrent nightmares as a child that always had to do with the theme of ‘almost drowning’. There were several important events during my life that amplified my interest in this area and taught me about the importance of body-awareness, in particular how trauma and early experiences in general have a way of embodying themselves, literally, in our physical bodies, as well as in our mind and spirit. The body remembers so much more than we are aware of. I suppose on a deeper level this experience drove me to understand more about consciousness and to approach healing and curing within a holistic perspective. These events led me to study acupuncture in 2010. I currently run an acupuncture practice from home. Besides acupuncture I also do holistic health coaching and massage therapy.
