FABULOUS AFTER FIFTY! EPISODE 5 – FIONA PASSANTINO – Understanding Post Covid Communication

Many, many years ago, an American kid packed her bags and took her junior year abroad. She never came home. Fiona has lived all over Europe – London, Rome, Vienna, Amsterdam, Budapest – met a tall Dutchman, adopted some cats, had two kids, and settled in the Hague with her family. Some 30 years later, she’s still in Europe, likely drinking coffee somewhere. Fiona is a Visual Communication Specialist and corporate Storyteller, working with some of the largest multinationals to help them message and educate; taking complex concepts and explaining them to non-insiders using imagery, animation, concise, powerful text and humanity for innovative, digital, mobile-first platforms. She worked for PostNL, NationaleNederlanden, Achmea and others. She became a Creative Lead and the head of training, and eventually the Senior Communication & Innovation Advisor and Explainer-in-Chief. In 2020, she received her master’s in management and leadership at the University of Amsterdam and ran the infamous experiment on her colleagues. She began as an “old school” visual artist making large-scale installations and print illustrations, comics and as a writer. Her first job was as a game designer in Vienna, where she first learned about animation and adventure learning. She has published three novels, one of which a graphic novel for children. Her signature high-contrast, edgy style has always been her trademark. Today, Fiona is a Storyteller for Philips and has her own small creative storytelling company: Storylines (www.stoylnz.com).
