Facing opposition to the work of God (Nehemiah 4)

THCC Husk Speaker: Tony Uddin Sermon Recorded on:4/6/23 Main Passage: Nehemiah 4 Scripture References: Nehemiah 4:1–3 Ephesians 6:10–13 Ephesians 6:13–19 Reflection and Application: One of the things that the people faced was a stream of discouragement, scorn and mocking. This can be something we face as we look to serve God in our community. In what ways does this happen to you? How do you deal with this? what else might help? The passage shows that when faced with opposition and loud voice,  Nehemiah spoke to God (he prayed) and spoke to the people ( he encouraged them). Is this your response? Which voices do you listen to in life? who are you encouraging? Ultimately, Nehemiah reminded the people to base their hope in God and carry on with God's  work no matter how hard things got. V14 says "Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes."  Take some time to think on that verse. Remember this is not about physical fighting but being determined to serve God and see his purposes happen.
