How do your prayers help shape your kingdom perspective? What prevents you from praying with "shameless audacity"? What kind of bold prayers have you prayed recently? Reflect on the prayers you are continuing to pray for persistently. Pray for the Holy Spirit to give renewed strength to persevere!

Luke 10:1–24 // Sent Together in the Service of Jesus

Speaker: Tony UddinRecorded on: 18/01/2026Main Passage // Luke 10:1-24: "Sent Together in the Service of Jesus"Reflection & ApplicationTony spoke from Luke 10 on Jesus sending the 72.  The first half of the talk emphasised that it is not the workers but the sender that is the most important thing. The disciples needed to obey because it was Jesus who sent them. Obedience in evangelism is a key and often neglected starting point. In the light of this, he ended the talk by asking:Who are you sharing Good News of Jesus with? What distracts you from this important commission? How are you learning dependence on God and others?

  15. 251

Luke 9:51-52 // The Cost of Following Jesus: Possessions, Priorities, People

Speaker: Pastor Tony UddinRecorded on: 04/01/2026Main Passage // Luke 6:27-36Book of Luke series // Following Jesus (on the road to Jerusalem)Reflection and application:Tony mentioned that this passage marks a hinge in Luke's Gospel as the emphasis switches to Jesus determinedly heading to Jerusalem. Jesus willingly went to Jerusalem even though he would suffer and be crucified there. Take some time to thank God for the example we have in Jesus of faithfulness in the face of suffering. How do we respond to people that reject us because of our faithfulness to Jesus? Is it with kindness and love or anger? The three people that Jesus meets on the road are all made aware of the cost of following him. The three key challenges that Jesus makes them aware of in following him are to do with possessions, priorities and people. What does it look like for you to make Jesus Lord in each of these areas? What might it mean for you to wholeheartedly follow Jesus in regards to these things? What challenges you at the moment?

  16. 250

Ephesians 2:10 // Find the place where you thrive... and live your best life there:

  17. 249

CHRISTMAS 2025 // The Word Became Flesh: John 1:1-14

Speaker: Tony UddinRecorded on: 07/12/2025Main Passage // John 1:1-14: "The Word Became Flesh and made his dwelling among us"Reflection and application:What does it mean for us as Christians that Jesus took on human flesh? How might that impact how we face difficulty? How might you explain to a non-Christian friend that Jesus was fully human and fully God?Take some time to think about John 1:12. What does it mean for Christians to see themselves as children of God?

  18. 248

Identity Series VII: Am I my Sexuality?

Speaker: John DayRecorded on: 23/10/2025Identity Series: Am I my Sexuality // Does my Sexuality define my identity in Christ?Reflection and Application7Q1: 'I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.' Gen 3v10. What are the things that, because of fear of others (or God), you keep hidden?Q2: What trusted person could you share these things with?Q3: What do you think of John's statement that "every one of us comes to him with flawed, broken sexuality"?Q4: How can sexuality flourish in the church if we are single?Q5: How has our series changed or reinforced the way you think about your identity in Christ?

  19. 247

    Identity Series I: Introduction

Speaker: Simon KempsonRecorded on: 05/10/2025Identity Series: An Introduction to Identity

  20. 246

Identity Series II: Dealing with fears & anxieties

Speaker: Katie McClurgRecorded on: 19/10/2025Identity Series: Dealing with fears & anxieties // What keeps me awake at night?Reflection and ApplicationName it – What fear or anxiety is on your mind right now? Speak it honestly to God.Re-frame it – What story are you telling yourself about your situation? How could you retell it in light of God's presence?Step out – What one small act of courage can you take this week, even if you feel afraid?Catch your thoughts – What "track" plays on repeat in your mind? // Bring it under Christ's truth in prayer.Worship in the storm – Anxiety tells you your problems are bigger than you, but we worship to declare God is bigger than our problems!

  21. 245

Identity Series VI: How do I deal with guilt & shame?

Speaker: Matt BrinkleyRecorded on: 16/11/2025Identity Series: How do I deal with guilt & shame / not letting shame become our identity.Reflection and ApplicationZacchaeus is up a tree to see Jesus. But Jesus tells Zacchaeus to come down. In the end, Jesus goes up a tree (on the Cross of calvary) for Zacchaeus. What stops us from allowing Jesus to deal with our shame in our place? The Paralysed Man and the Bleeding Woman (both Matt 9) are healed. Jesus forgives the man and commends them both for their faith. As a result, onlookers are amazed. How is your testimony of Jesus lifting you from shame, pointing others to Jesus?

  22. 244

Identity Series III: Am I my Money/Possessions?

Speaker: Tony UddinRecorded on: 26/10/2025Identity Series: Is my identity based on my money or possessions?Reflection and Application1) In what ways are you tempted to buy into the idea that what you have determines your, or someone else's value in life?2)To what extent does the character description of disciples of Jesus in the beatitudes of Matthew 5 form the basis of your identity in Christ? Which elements challenge you the most? 3) What does the way we spend our money reveal to us about where are priorities are?

  23. 243

Identity Series V: What is the REAL ME?

Speaker: Caroline MillarRecorded on: 09/11/2025Identity Series: What is the REAL ME? (touching on identity as saints & not finding our identity as sinners)Reflection and ApplicationHusk last Sunday heard from Caroline on 'What is the real me?':Peter calls believers a "chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession." What does each of these descriptions reveal about your identity in Christ? How does this contrast with how you might naturally see yourself? The word holy (hagios) means "set apart." In what ways has God set you apart from the world? How can this understanding reshape the way you live and make decisions daily?Peter says we are set apart "so that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." What does this verse teach about the purpose of our identity as saints? How does praise and witness flow from a holy identity?Peter's language is collective — "a people belonging to God." How does our shared identity as saints shape how we view the church community? What would a community that truly lived as "a holy nation" look like in Tower Hamlets?

  24. 242

Identity Series IV: Am I my Background?

Speaker: Caroline MillarRecorded on: 02/11/2025Identity Series: Am I my Background? (appreciating who we are & where we come from -- BUT not finding our identity in that)Reflection and ApplicationWhere does your background shape how you see faith and others? Are there parts of your culture you need to celebrate - or critique? How can you help our church become a place of welcome for all cultures? What would it look like for you to step outside your comfort zone for the gospel?

  25. 241

    Love Your Enemies (Luke 6:27-36)

THCC Husk Speaker: Katie McClurgSermon Recorded on: 30/03/2025 Main Passage: Luke 6:27-36

  26. 240

Ambassador School Day One (Luke 6:12-26)

THCC Husk Speaker: Bex White Sermon Recorded on: 23/03/2025 Main Passage: Luke 6:12-26 Reflection: Have you got any big decisions to make? What can you learn from how Jesus made this important decision? What tone of voice do you hear Jesus using as He lists these blessings and woes? If this sounds like bad news for you, do you think you might be mis-hearing Him? What difference does it make that Jesus Himself experienced all of the troubles that He describes here - poverty, hunger, grief and being hated? Are you confident in being on Team Jesus? What difference does that make?

  27. 239

    Friendship (Luke 5:17-26)

THCC Husk Speaker: Darius Pantea Sermon Recorded on: 09/03/2025 Main Passage: Luke 5:17-26 Reflection: On Friendship: What kind of friends do we have? (Proverbs 18:24) What kind of friend are we? (Proverbs 17:17) What does friendship look like as a choice? (Proverbs 12:26) What does friendship with Jesus look like? (John 21:5 Jesus is calling the disciples "friends") On Failure: In what way did the Pharisees fail to realise that Jesus is God? On Faith: How have we seen faith in action in Luke 5:18-20? And Luke 5: 24-25?

  28. 238

    Jesus Calls (Luke 5:1-11; 27-32)

THCC HuskSpeaker: Caroline MillarSermon Recorded on: 02/03/2025Main Passage: Luke 5:1-11; 27-32Reflection:When Jesus calls he interrupts the disciple's normal routine. Where are you seeing signs of Jesus calling you or others? Where have you experienced him interrupting your life?  When Jesus called the disciples, they "left everything and followed him". Caroline spoke about Jesus calling us today, as he does so what in your life needs to be left behind?

  29. 237

    The Last Word? (Luke 4:31-44)

THCC HuskSpeaker: Bex WhiteSermon Recorded on: 23/02/2025Main Passage: Luke 4:31-44Reflection:We had to reach around a lot of thorns to get to the fruit this week. Were there any aspects of the sermon that were hard for you to hear? Might God be inviting you to bring those things to Him? If so, how will you do that?We heard time and again how Jesus has the last word. Where in your life do you need encouragement to pray for His will to be done and His kingdom to be done? Who in your life needs to hear His words of release?

  30. 236

    Jesus' Mission (Luke 4:14-30)

THCC HuskSpeaker: Tony UddinSermon Recorded on: 16/02/2025Main Passage: Luke 4:14-30Reflection:Tony pointed out that Jesus was empowered by the Holy Spirit - this involved prayer, fasting and resisting temptation. What might it look like for you?Jesus read from Isaiah and said that He was the fulfilment of what He had read. Do we read the Bible by placing Jesus at the centre or do we have a tendency to place ourselves in that place? The Gospel is such good news! Jesus sets the prisoner free, He opens blind eyes and releases those who are oppressed. What has He done in your life? Why don't you find some ways this week to share this great news with others?

  31. 235

The Temptation of Jesus (Luke 4:1-13)

THCC HuskSpeaker: Matt BrinkleySermon Recorded on: 09/02/2025Main Passage: Luke 4:1-13

  32. 234

    The Weirdest Baptism (Luke 3:21-38)

THCC HuskSpeaker: Bex WhiteSermon Recorded on: 02/02/2025Main Passage: Luke 3:21-38Reflection:Jesus is the beloved Son, and He is the servant that Isaiah spoke of. Reflect: what does knowing Him as Son and servant mean for you?Jesus made a way for us to be restored as children of God, and to be grafted in to His family tree. Is there anything in your life that might look different to you if you see yourself as a child of God?

  33. 233

Jesus as a Young Man (Luke 2:41-52)

THCC HuskSpeaker: Tony UddinSermon Recorded on: 12/01/2025Main Passage: Luke 2:41-52Reflection: One of the themes of this was that Mary and  Joseph were obedient to God and that Jesus also modelled obedience in part by being concerned to do his Father's business. What are the areas of your life that the Lord is challenging you about obedience in? The passage shows us both the humanity and divinity of Jesus. What does it mean for us to see Jesus in this way? v52 shows us that Jesus grew in wisdom and stature as a young man. What challenges you about this In both how you see Jesus but also in how you approach your own growth?

  34. 232

The Birth of Jesus (Luke 2:1-21)

THCC Husk Speaker: Iain Millar Sermon Recorded on: 22/12/2024 Main Passage: Luke 2:1-21 Reflection: ‘[Mary] placed him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the guest room’ Luke 2:7; what difference does it make that Jesus was born in such humble circumstances? ‘The sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays’ Malachi 4:2; where do you most need the light and healing of Jesus to be seen? Pray about these things. ‘Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God’ Luke 2:13; an army of angels appeared at Jesus birth - how does this and these other passages - Matthew 13:24-30,36-43; Matthew 26:47-56; Revelation 19:11-16 - help us to understand the power and authority of Jesus?

  35. 231

    Mary's Song (Luke 1:39-56)

THCC Husk Speaker: Tony Uddin Sermon Recorded on: 15/12/2024 Main Passage: Luke 1:39-56 Reflection: In both Mary and Elizabeth we see them hearing  from God, responding in faith and being filled with the Holy Spirit. What can we learn about faith and obedience from that? Mary's Song was a response of joy toward God. Real worship is initiated by the Holy Spirit and is a response toward God. What are you rejoicing about in your life this week? Mary's Song reminds us of the nature of God's kingdom as opposed to the kingdoms of this world. What do we learn about God and His way of doing things from these verses?

  36. 230

Nativity Special! A Story of Hope (Isaiah 9:6-7)

THCC Husk Cast: THCC Members! Recorded on: 08/12/2024 Main Passage: Isaiah 9:6-7 Reflection: (ask yourself or your child) What did the anchor represent in the story?

  37. 229

The Birth of Jesus Foretold (Luke 1:26-38)

THCC Husk Speaker: John Day Sermon Recorded on: 01/12/2024 Main Passage: Luke 1:26-38 Reflection: What are your "awe & wonder" moments from Luke 1? Have you ever thought that you too are highly favoured as a result of Jesus coming? Read John 1:16 "Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given". Speak these three versions of Luke 1 v 37 over whatever you are currently facing: "No word from God will ever fail", "God's word will never lose it power", "With God nothing shall be impossible".

  38. 228

The Birth of John the Baptist (Luke 1:57-80)

THCC Husk Speaker: Ayo Adeniji Sermon Recorded on: 24/11/2024 Main Passage: Luke 1:57-80 Reflection: In the gospel of Jesus, and in the stories you read in the bible (for example the birth of John the Baptist) Do you see God at work, do you see His mercy and grace? Do you recognise God's mercies in your life? God is a covenant keeping God, and His mercies are new every morning. Therefore we can trust Him. We also ought to respond in Joy, praise, obedience and faith, when we see God's mercies at work.

  39. 227

John the Baptist: The Origin Story (Luke 1:5-25)

THCC Husk Speaker: Tony Uddin Sermon Recorded on: 17/11/2024 Main Passage: Luke 1:5-25 Reflection: Are you able to see and experience God's work even when things seem tough? John's ministry was to prepare people's hearts for Jesus. In the run up to the Christmas season, take time to reflect on Christ coming into the world and to honestly ask yourself, what is the state of your heart? Do we need to prepare our hearts afresh with a new sense of repentance - turning round from living our way and to live in obedience to God?  In what ways might God want to use you during this week to point others towards Jesus?

  40. 226

    Introduction to Luke (Luke 1:1-4)

THCC Husk Speaker: Bex White Sermon Recorded on: 10/11/2024 Main Passage: Luke 1:1-4 Reflection: What does Luke set out to do? How might Luke's gospel help you know about Jesus, and become more like Him? We heard several different analogies for faith: Jenga... Lego... a bridge. Did any of these resonate with you at this time? As my aunt would ask: have you told Jesus about it? What themes in Luke are you most looking forward to uncovering, and are there any that make you nervous?

  41. 225

Gospel centred Christian social action (Luke 4:16-21; 42-44)

THCC Husk Speaker: Anni Uddin Sermon Recorded on: 03/11/2024 Main Passage: Luke 4:16-21; 42-44 Reflection: Anni spoke about sharing faith in the context of Christian social action projects. She highlighted the fact that we can often end up excluding spoken explanation of the Gospel from them and that they are a lot worse off for this. How do you intentionally look for opportunities to share your faith with others both in word and deed? How could we find creative ways to share the gospel within social action projects in ways which are culturally sensitive and non-coercive? Why are we hesitant at times about sharing faith? Do we need to be more used to taking risks?

  42. 224

Being the Bad Guys? Christian Social Engagement in a Complicated World (1 Peter 3:14-17)

THCC Husk Speaker: Tony Uddin Sermon Recorded on: 20/10/2024 Main Passage: 1 Peter 3:14-17 Reflection: What are the challenges and opportunities for you with your friendship group and work environment as you look to faithfully live out the Bible's teaching around social and moral issues? 1 Peter 3 speaks about doing good to all and being ready to to give a reason for the hope that is in you? Do you find that your life provokes questions from your non Christian relatives, friends, neighbours or colleagues? Do you feel equipped to answer them? How might you grow in this? Tony spoke of not just answering people's questions but also questioning their answers. How do we do this lovingly and respectfully but also in an appropriately provocative way?

  43. 223

Good News Today, Tommorow, Together (2 Corinthians 4:5-18)

THCC Husk Speaker: Adele May Sermon Recorded on: 13/10/2024 Main Passage: 2 Corinthians 4:5-18 Reflection: Are there areas of your life, or in our world, where you struggle to believe Jesus can bring good news? If if you feel able to, consider prayerfully sharing this with a friend or leader Do you tend to have a more earthly, or a more eternal mindset? If more earthly, try to spend some time reflecting on some of the passages mentioned in the talk (2 Cor 4:16-18, Heb 10:23, Heb 12:2-3 among others) Do you feel an urgency to share the good news about Jesus with others? What factors might be dulling that urgency or holding you back from sharing?

  44. 222

Preach Good News in a Complicated World (2 Corinthians 4:1-7)

THCC Husk Speaker: Caroline Millar Sermon Recorded on: 06/10/2024 Main Passage: 2 Corinthians 4:1-7 Reflection: John Stott spoke about "double listening", listening to God and immersing ourselves in His word (scripture, bible) and listening to the world "seeking to sympathise with it and to seek grace to discover how the gospel relates to it". What does double listening look like in your week and in your context? Our vision at THCC is to give every single man, woman and child in Tower Hamlets (and beyond) the opportunity to hear, understand and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Spend some time reflecting on what this would actually look and feel like if this vision was to become a reality. How does this make you feel? What excites you? What concerns you? Caroline spoke about intentional missional living being about having a perspective over our lives that sees us as missionaries where God has placed us.  Who are the people that God is placing in your life?  Where are you seeing God already at work in their lives?

  45. 221

Inside Out, Not Outside In (Revelation 3:1-6)

THCC Husk Speaker: Katie McClurg Sermon Recorded on: 15/09/2024 Main Passage: Revelation 3:1-16 (Letter to Sardis) Reflection: The people of Sardis were found to be protecting their reputation instead of their spiritual lives. Take a moment and think about: How alive are you in your faith? Are you seeing the gifts of the spirit demonstrated in your life or are you drifting? What is standing between you and God, what might you be prioritising instead? How can you take a simple step today to strengthen your faith by changing something about your relationship to the answer to question 2?

  46. 220

    Authority (Revelation 2:18-29)

THCC Husk Speaker: John Day Sermon Recorded on: 08/09/2024 Main Passage: Revelation 2:18-29 (Letter to Thyatira) Reflection: What difference does it make when you consider that the one who has been given all authority sends us out to the nations with His authority (Rev 2: 26, Matt 28:18-19)? Are there "so called deep secrets" that you are being drawn into and distracted by (Rev 2:24)? Remember "the main things are the plain things and the plain things are the main things". Take time, if you are married, to discuss what it means to exercise authority over one another's bodies. Enjoy taking authority over Satan by your sexual intimacy (1 Corinthians 7:4-5). Consider the church responsibility we share to exercise loving authority by pointing out a brother or sister's sin in order "to win them over" (Matthew 18:15).

  47. 219

    The Enemy Within (Revelation 2:12-17)

THCC Husk Speaker: Simon Kempson Sermon Recorded on: 01/09/2024 Main Passage: Revelation 2:12-17 (Letter to Pergamum) Reflection:  In the talk at Husk we were asked what might be written about us if we were in Revelation, and whether Jesus has first place in our hearts. If Jesus were to write about us as He did to the Churches in Relevation, what might He say? What are in danger of becoming idols in our lives? Is the good in our lives taking the place of the best?

  48. 218

Sailing on the Seven Cs (Revelation 1:1 - 2:7)

THCC Husk Speaker: Bex White Sermon Recorded on: 11/08/2024 Main Passage: Revelation 1:1 - 2:7 Reflection: Who or what is the Angel of a church? Ephesus is efficient and effective and doing more. What could possibly be wrong?  If you were part of this church how would you "conquer" or "overcome" and what would be the consequence?

  49. 217

Ruthless and Restless - Part 2 (Nehemiah 13:15-22)

THCC Husk Speaker: Tony Uddin Sermon Recorded on: 04/08/2024 Main Passage: Nehemiah 13:15-22 Reflection: Nehemiah came back to a people who had fallen back into sin that they had previously repented of. Take some time to think about your life. Are there any ways this is true of you? Are there things that you once had moved on from that you are falling back into? The idea of dealing with issues of sin at the gates can be quite a helpful picture. How are you guarding the gates of your life? Often that is the things that influence our hearts and minds that we let in through our eyes, ears and mouths. What challenges you in this? This was our last talk from Nehemiah. What things have most impacted you as we have looked at it?

  50. 216

    Ruthless and Restless - Part 1 (Nehemiah 13:1-14; 13:23-31)

THCC Husk Speaker: Bex White Sermon Recorded on: 28/07/2024 Main Passage: Nehemiah 13:1-14; 13:23-31 Reflection: How is your situation similar to that of the people in Nehemiah's day? You might want to think about pressures on one side, and temptation on the other. We looked at two ways in which Jeremiah was 'ruthless' - can you remember them? Hint - one was to do with a book of the Bible. We saw a pretty relatable example of how things slide when a leader is away. What does Jesus' promise in John 14, of leaving us the Spirit, mean for you? How is your situation different from the people of Nehemiah's day as a result?
