FASD & Motherhood: Nury van Beers of the ALC

from Living with FASD · host Patricia Kasper

Living with FASD is a human interest and educational show for those living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, and the people who support them, by someone with both professional and living experience with an FASD. This week on Living with FASD, my Candid Conversation is with Nury van Beers, who joins me from the Netherlands. Nury is a member of the Adult Leadership Collaboration of the FASD Changemakers. Nury is a mother of two, an author and a self-advocate for FASD in the Netherlands. Nury is also one of the women who generously shared of her time and of herself in collaborating with me in my book, Sip by Sip: Candid Conversations with People Diagnosed as Adults with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). One of the topics we discussed in the book is the fear that many mothers live with that their children will be removed from them due to their diagnosis, which many feel is a barrier to women sharing their use of alcohol in the weeks leading to pregnancy or discovering that they are pregnant. This is our topic in this episode's candid conversation. You can reach Nury in her group on Facebook: FASD Warriors NL, or follow her on Instagram at fasd_warrior_nl You can reach me at [email protected]. As we discussed in the episode, Nury was one of the generous people whom I spoke with in the writing of Sip by Sip: Candid Conversations with People Diagnosed as Adults with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). I am a Certified Facilitator of FASCETS Neurobehavioral Model as well as a TBRI Practitioner.
