FASD diagnoses for adults: overcoming inaccessibility

from Living with FASD · host Patricia Kasper

Living with FASD is a human interest and educational show for those living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, and the people who support them, by someone with both professional and living experience with an FASD. This week on Living with FASD, my Candid Conversation is with Paul Connor, PhD. Dr. Paul Connor is a clinical neuropsychologist from Washington State. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Washington and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and neuropsychology from Brigham Young University. He received post-doctoral training in neuropsychology and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) at the University of Washington. As a faculty member at the University of Washington, he conducted research on the effects of prenatal alcohol exposure on neuropsychological and mental health functioning as well as structural and functional brain anomalies. Dr. Connor has authored or co-authored multiple peer reviewed manuscripts and book chapters focusing on the long term effects of prenatal alcohol exposure into adolescence and adulthood. In addition, he has presented and consulted internationally about assessment and diagnosis of FASD in adulthood. He is currently in private practice, conducting neuropsychological evaluations in clinical and forensic settings, specializing in the diagnosis of adults with potential FASD. You can reach Dr. Connor at [email protected]. Dr. Connor's phone number is 206-940-1106. As a CTA (call to action) for any psychologists watching or listening: Dr. Connor will train you to diagnose FASD! We NEED more clinicians capable of making this diagnosis! Please like, follow/subscribe and share, and feel free to leave me comments within Spotify or YouTube. I love hearing from you! If you would like to suggest a topic for future episodes, feel free to email me at [email protected]. If you would like to join our community, please hop over to Facebook groups, and join Living With FASD Podcast.
