Older people are holding, maybe even hoarding, a disproportionate share of wealth and political power, while younger generations struggle to get a foothold in jobs and housing says historian and legal scholar Dr Samuel Moyn. He calls it "the great aging". In his new book Professor Moyn asks what happens to a democracy when political power becomes increasingly detached from the generations who will live longest with its consequences. He offers suggestions for prying some of those resources away from the old to help the young in his book, Gerontocracy in America: How the Old Are Hoarding Power and Wealth and What to Do About It.
