Debojyoti Chakraborty's lab works on three broad research areas. The first of these is the development of efficient and specific tools for therapeutic genome editing, particularly for sickle cell anaemia. The second area is the systematic dissection of factors governing embryonic stem cell fate. The third area covers the use of cerebral organoids to address developmental questions such as the influence of DNA topology on transcription. Dr Debojyoti Chakraborty along with Dr Souvik Maiti has developed a crisprcas9 based cost-effective COVID test strip named after Feluda, a detective in a series of novels by filmmaker Satyajit Ray & they have partnered with Tata Son's for a commercial release.
