De FIA heeft, net zoals tijdens de Dutch Grand Prix, de snelheid in de pitstraat in Singapore verhoogd van 60 naar 80 km per uur. De angst bestaat dat de race, bij het uitblijven van chaos, een eenstopper wordt. Daar wil de FIA met de verhoging van de snelheid in de pitstraat een stokje voor steken en hopen dus dat teams met deze verhoging eerder voor een tweestopper zullen kiezen.
