He is an accomplished surgeon, having made numerous contributions to the medical field through his research and development of 950 patents.  After over two decades of medical practice, Dr. Michelson began several philanthropic efforts. In 1995, he founded The Michelson Medical Research Foundation (MMRF), which invests in innovative research projects to improve patient outcomes across the world.  Through MMRF, Dr. Michelson has been involved with a variety of philanthropic projects, including the Michelson Center for Convergent Bioscience at USC, Michelson Ethical Research and Education, Michelson Prizes for Human Immunology and Vaccine Research (HPV), and more.
