“First Flight” by Steve AdamsWe all have defining moments in our lives. Soon after graduatinguniversity, I was managing the power distribution project for a largechemical company. It was February and the need arose to make an inperson visit to the design firm in another state.After fighting snow and a previously canceled flight, I made my way tothe airport to catch the last flight of the day. Being new to airlinenuances, I managed to get checked in and cleared security. My nextchallenge was finding the gate and soon after, my seat. I was nervousand excited as we pushed back and clearly anxious as we were clearedfor takeoff.It was then that the gentleman next to me realized it was my first flight.He smiled as he told me the best part was about to take place. Withthat advice, excitedly I heard the engines spool up and the skin pullback on my face as we raced down the runway.
