When Durvāsā Muni tried to vanquish Ambarīṣa Mahārāja for a slight offense, which had to do with status, Durvāsā thought, "I carry a water pot; therefore, I'm a sādhu." He didn't understand that external trappings have nothing to do with it, because Ambarīṣa Mahārāja was a pure devotee in his heart of hearts, even though he was a king. He's glorified by all the ācāryas, who say, "Look, he's living only for Kṛṣṇa, and he's using everything for Kṛṣṇa." He had performed a severe austerity. He broke the fast before Durvāsā Muni to please Kṛṣṇa, and he did it in such a way that it should have been a non-issue, but Durvāsā Muni made it an issue. He tried to kill him, and then the Sudarśana-cakra chased after him. He went to many places to take shelter. Everyone said, "Sorry." Even then, he went to Lord Viṣṇu, who uttered this verse: "sādhavo hṛdayaṁ tu aham: The pure devotees are in My heart. I only consider them. That's My only consideration. And therefore, you have to go back to Ambarīṣa Mahārāja and beg forgiveness." So the consideration of the Bhāgavatam is that first, we worship the Vaiṣṇavas, or we worship the Vaiṣṇavas and we become servants of the servant.
