Five for Friday, episode 037, The No Judgment Zone

from The Heart of Hospice Podcast · host Helen Bauer, RN & Jerry Fenter, Chaplain

In this Five for Friday episode, Helen & Jerry remind hospice professionals that we must always walk in the No Judgment Zone. That means we must respect the patient's right to choose where they live, how they live, who they live with, and the lifestyle they've chosen, among other things. It also means we must also respect their choice of where they want to die, and other advance care plans they may have made.  When a patient chooses hospice there are many people who suddenly have an opinion about whether it was the right thing to do, whether it's too early, too late, ad infinitum. Our role as hospice professionals is to empower the hospice patient to make their healthcare decisions based on their personal decisions.  For more information about how to empower your patient, read the blog on our website at www.theheartofhospice.com. We also have a Facebook page and a Twitter account to share information related to hospice.
