" FLOAT Co." with Ciaran Hussey

from Over Forty Wellness Podcast · host vincent

My guest on the podcast this week is Ciaran Hussey. Ciaran is married to Dee and has two daughters. Originally from Ireland, Ciaran moved to Hong Kong in 2007. He spent the first 8 years running one of liveliest bars in HK. However, he was looking for a new venture something to take him away from his feeling of being trapped. He was looking for something else to do, something different and he thought he needed to start his own business.  Ciaran explains in the podcast how he had heard about Floating through Joe Rogan and 9 years ago and he founded Float Co introducing Float therapy to Hong Kong. Running Float Co initially was a more complex business than running a bar, there was a lot to learn. One of his members became a business partner and helped to bring solid processes to Float co. Two years ago, Float Co introduced an Ice bath and later this year they will be opening up Health related services.  In the podcast Ciaran explains that floating is a practice that develops over time and it brings with it many advantages including but not exclusively, improving sleep, reducing stress and anxiety. It can lead to a deep state of relaxation. Ciaran further explains that the addition of audio tracks has enhanced the benefits of Flotation Therapy. The business is evolving with the continued addition of new services.Timings.3:21 Ciaran has lived in Hong Kong for 17 years… my brother and brother in law had a bar called Solace… the vibe was phenomenal… the place was busy… a beautiful city…4:42 Initially I was managing the bar… I had a sense of imposter syndrome…9:06 Around 4 years later things changed a little … less fun …I felt I had no skills…10:47 8 years after arriving I set up Float Co. … I was looking for something else to do … I heard about floating from Jo Rogan…12:19 Improves bad sleep, stress, anxiety… lets bring Floating to Hong Kong…13:26 [My Health] I was a little fatter… none of my health markers were “out of whack”… mentally it was a mess… I was blessed I went through it…14:48 Looked into “Floating”.. to bring it to Hong Kong… we took the space on Caine Road…16:30 We opened “Float Co.” there wasn’t a flood of people… it’s a more complex business than running “A Bar”… There was a lot to learn…18:08 [Float Therapy]… a very deep state of relaxation…20:43 [Business] People keep showing up to help… One of our members became a business partner… brought solid processes to Float… a mentor is invaluable…25:35 [Client benefits]… floating is a practice…parasympathetic is a healing mode… audio tracks to enhance the benefits of floating… heart coherence breathing… a healing space…recovery from stress…breath work…Oxygen Advantage… Buteyko breathing…40:38 [Frequency of use]… Do a few floats in a short amount of time…2 per week for one month then every month… set an intention…43:30 [Key advantages of Floating] Stress relief, pain relief and sleep also creativity…45:34 [Key Message] Some simple changes can change direction…Books : James Nestor - Breathe Contact CiaranIG @floatco.hkFB: FLOAT Cowww.floatco.comContact VincentNewsletter: https://vincent1cd.substack.comPro Coach:  https://procoach.app/vincent-hiscoxEmail: [email protected]: Vincent Hiscox
