Flood-displaced Durban families say housing notice came late.

from Update@Noon · host SAfm

Thirteen families displaced by the 2022 floods say they have been left homeless after being evicted from temporary accommodation in Durban's Point precinct. The families have been sleeping on the pavement outside the one of the buildings on Mahatma Gandhi Road since Monday. They claim other flood victims have been relocated to permanent housing, while they were told they do not qualify because they earn above the 3-thousand-500 rand income threshold or had previously registered for RDP houses.
