Food, Fitness, and Fighting Cognitive Decline with Hal Cranmer

from Decoding Health · host Dr. Urban A. Kiernan

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Decoding Health, Hal Cranmer joins to break down what assisted living really is and how it differs from other types of care models. We dive into the true purpose of hospice care and how cognitive decline, dementia, and chronic disease management are being approached today. Hal shares insight into how aggression in dementia patients is handled compassionately and how their facilities adapted during the challenges of the pandemic. We explore the vital role of food and exercise at every stage of life, the current state of healthcare in America, and the rising concern of polypharmacy—the growing reliance on multiple medications. Finally, we discuss alternative treatments and therapies that could change the future of chronic disease care. Hal Cranmer is the owner of A Paradise for Parents Assisted Living, a network of five senior care homes in the Phoenix, Arizona area. A 1989 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Hal served as a Special Operations pilot until 1999, then flew commercially for US Airways. Following the events of 9/11, he transitioned into the manufacturing sector, where he held leadership roles in supply chain and plant management. In 2015, inspired by personal experiences caring for aging family members, Hal entered the assisted living industry. He now focuses on enhancing residents' health and independence through lifestyle interventions, including nutrition and exercise programs. His innovative approach has led to improved outcomes for residents, such as reduced hospital readmissions and, in some cases, reversal of cognitive decline. https://aparadiseforparents.comAre you eager to explore more about health and wellness?
