Forgiveness

The forgiveness of God is not like the forgiveness of people. God is God and He knows everything. So how can He say that He forgets sin? And why is it such a big deal that God does forget sin? If it is true that once God has forgiven you does that mean you can sin again? Does it mean that there are natural consequences that you will face because of your sin?
