Former UFC champion files objection to antitrust settlement | Ep. 127

from Hey Not The Face! Podcast · host Stephie Haynes

The UFC antitrust case has been going now for over a decade, but there is an end in sight, at least for the Plaintiffs in the Le v. Zuffa class. Imagine the collective surprise of the community when we got our very first objection filed by none other than former women’s strawweight champion, Carla Esparza (now married and using her husband’s surname of Lomeli). She filed objections to the attorney’s fees and to Nate Quarry being paid from the settlement money. We address her objections and explain the particulars of attorney fees and why they can’t just pay Nate from that pool of money. Follow along with our outline as you listen:Ep. 127 Outline* What exactly did Carla file?* What did Nate Quarry do to help the antitrust case?* How is the additional money from the final settlement offer calculated?* Why can’t the attorneys pay Quarry’s portion?* How is the attorneys fees calculated?*Visit MMAFA on X for UFC class action long form notifications in several different languages*ATTN: UFC Fighters (current & past)*Please note that we’ll be updating the pertinent information for current and former UFC fighters on what’s happening with the antitrust case for the foreseeable future.
