After retiring from a 35-year career at IBM, Fran and his wife Kathy, moved to Newburyport two years ago. Since his retirement, he has joined many local organizations and published "5 Words and Then Some" which is a self-help, motivational book for young adults, became a board member of Pennies for Poverty: 2 Cents 4 Change, and is a Retirement coach, Alzheimer's champion and advocate, and inspirational speaker on Visioning. Fran also has Type 2 diabetes and has put together a presentation called Diabetes Lessons Learned, which talks about the disease and his personal journey handling it.
