Landen binnenvallen zonder VN-mandaat, oproepen tot het begaan van oorlogsmisdaden, en tot het uitroeien van een hele beschaving: de afgelopen maanden heeft de Amerikaanse president Donald Trump gebroken met de klassieke taak die de VS als supermacht sinds de Tweede Wereldoorlog had. Namelijk het handhaven van de internationale rechtsorde en respect voor mensenrechten. Wat betekent dat voor de VS als wereldleider en supermacht? En voor de Amerikaanse bondgenoten in Europa?
