When Michael Jordan reinvested in North Carolina by buying a majority stake in the Charlotte Bobcats (as they were known at the time), he knew he had to have a leadership team around him that he could trust. That's why he brought in one of his good friends and business partners, Fred Whitfield. In his 17 years as the leader of the Hornets, Fred oversaw the return of the Hornets brand and imagery, the hosting of an NBA All-Star game, as well as both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions.
